Video: Mass-Producing Cards with MISTI Tool + GIVEAWAY

Hi! Today I wanted to share a video showing how the MISTI stamping tool is very helpful when mass-producing cards with lots of stamping layers…

So both my mom and mother-in-law have birthdays on Christmas Eve. Every year I try (“try” being the key word) to create sets of notecards for them as gifts. And since I was already making two sets, I decided to make a third for a friend and a few for me. Sixty cards in total! To make things a little more crazy, I had my heart set on using the Altenew Vintage Roses stamp set. This is one of my all-time favorite sets, but it requires several layers of stamping, which is tough with sixty cards. However, with the MISTI stamping tool, I was able to make them all in one day and decided to film the process to share with you.

For the “key” to layering the stamps in the Altenew Vintage Roses stamp set, check out THIS post. It takes out all the guess work! For each rose, I started with the my lightest color and the biggest of the layered images. I then stamped the additional layers on top, using a darker ink each time. I’m just blown away with the realistic look of these roses!

Here are the colors inks I used. If you don’t have a light, medium, and dark ink… no worries! Try double stamping the lightest ink to achieve a darker look… or use a light grey ink for the dark layer. Any ink would work here!

  • Pinks: Hero Arts Bubblegum, WPlus9 Sweet Gelato, Hero Arts Raspberry Jam
  • Peaches: WPlus9 Sweet Nectar, Simon Says Stamp Coral Reef, Simon Says Stamp Burnt Orange
  • Orange: Hero Arts Soft Vanilla (double stamped), Hero Arts Butter Bar, Hero Arts Soft Apricot
  • Yellows: Hero Arts Soft Vanilla, Simon Says Stamp Goldenlocks, Simon Says Stamp Sunshine
  • Greens: Simon Says Stamp Green Apple, Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf, My Favorite Things Gumdrop Green Hybrid
  • Blues: WPlus9 Lake House, Hero Arts Cornflower, Hero Arts Stone Wash
  • Purples: Hero Arts Soft Purple, My Favorite Things Grape Jelly Hybrid, Hero Arts Grape Juice

Since I stamped various greetings on each piece that are different sizes, I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Rectangles Die and die cut each panel to center the greeting.

I created card bases from Avery Elle’s Silver Fox Cardstock and stamped them with a diagonal striped background stamp using some Fog ink from Simon Says Stamp. (You can remove the foam insert in the MISTI tool and use cling stamps in it as well.) I also stamped a few hearts from the Tons of Hearts Stamp Set by Simon Says Stamp and used my Wink of Stella to add some shine. I placed the cards in a clear box with matching envelopes. I think this is a thoughtful gift that is fun to make!

OTHER MISTI VIDEOS

From this video, you can see that the MISTI stamp tool is an awesome one. I really like using it for mass-producing these cards, but you can also fix mistakes easily since it lines up images perfectly. I also have a hard time stamping my sentiments straight and this tool has helped me so much. Here are a few more videos showing the MISTI in action:

NOTE: You can get the MISTI tool from two places – My Sweet Petunia and Simon Says Stamp. My Sweet Petunia is the creator (and kind genius) and sells the tool for $50. Because of the high demand, sometimes there is a wait for shipping. (She is working very hard to get them out… but LOTS of people are wanting to get their hands on one!) Simon Says Stamp sells the MISTI at a higher price since it isn’t available at complete wholesale pricing. However, they have some in stock and you can add it in with other products and get $7.99 off orders of $75 ore more with the code SAVE799. It’s nice to have options! And keep in mind – these tools are my in the USA.

By the way – as always – I wasn’t asked to do this video. I just really love the MISTI tool. In fact, I like it so much that I ordered two more to share with my kiddos and friends. 🙂

I have made several sets for gifts as well as for selling at some craft shows. The plastic boxes make a nice presentation for these. The Misti tool looks like it would work well for consistency in the look of the cards. Thanks for the chance to win one.

Loved this tutorial. So many tips in one video. And that’s an awesome tool right there. I did create a few card holders in set and it was a pain to get them all looks the same. Never really created card sets though.

  8. Daria G says:

Wow, that was an incredible video – cant believe you made sixty cads at once!!! Wow!! You are amazing!!!thank you sooooo much for sharing :)) and i have never made gift cards sets, it is not so popular in my country, but i do gift almost all of the cards i made :)))

  9. Tricia Ann says:

Wow, that was awesome! Your cards look beautiful and perfect. Now I want a Misti Tool….ha. For her birthday last year, I made my daughter a large set of miscellaneous greeting cards. She loved them. Then this year for Christmas, I made my daughter 12 thank you cards since she is a teacher and gets perks throughout the year. I made 6 of the cards whimsical with stamped sentiments inside and 6 cards more elegant and also more appropriate to give a male. On these 6 cards I stamped a sentiment to go inside the card on cardstock but did not adhere them. This made it optional if she wanted to use the sentiment I stamped or turn the cardstock over and write her own thoughts. Coming up with a container was a problem. Finally, I put the set in a cellophane bag that fit nicely. I’m glad you put the link to the clear boxes you used.

  12. Super video! Love the MISTI stamping tool- I have done card sets in the past one at a time- I love how you can replicate the stamping quickly! Also love how you can use to stamp over and area that may not have stamped well the first time! Thanks for sharing!

  13. Sandra Paul says:

Thanks to share all your creativity and tips with us

  14. Jennifer I really love your cards and your style is so classy. Yes I have made card sets for gifts. Mostly for my MIL. She loves to give cards and is not able to get around very well anymore. Thank you for all the inspiration you provide and for the chance to win this wonderful tool I have had on my wish list.

  15. How incredibly generous of you to give away a Misti. I was sitting on the fence on whether I wanted one, and your video just helped me decide. Of course, I will wait to see if I’m the lucky one who receives it from you, but regardless, I NEED one of these. Those gift cards are AMAZING looking. When I first started stamping, I used to make gift sets of cards for my mother so she would always have something to send to people. I also have a brother in the U.S. Navy who is out on deployment and I made up cards for him to send home while he was away. Having a Misti would make that so much faster to produce. Thank you for a wonderful video.

  16. Sam Olden says:

I have only been card making for 6 months or so, so I haven’t yet attempted card sets. It looks like a challenge to take on.

  17. Shawn Wenrich says:

You have totally wow’d me with these cards, amazing! I have given card sets away as gifts before and last year I created a huge basket of cards. I made extras of all of my holiday and birthday cards and donated them for our fund raiser auction at work. It was fun and I felt like i truly contributed something heartfelt.

  18. Christina W says:

I love the way you get more efficient with every process! Efficiency makes me happy 🙂 Every year, I put together a card set for my husband’s grandmother with all of my “experiments” or extra cards through the year–many of those experiments are after watching a video of yours or scrolling through pics of my past work & changing it up a bit. I’ll be involved in a card making event at the end of the month for a local hospice & could see really being able to accomplish a TON more using the Misti stamp tool! Thanks again for sharing your ideas!

  19. Nancy C says:

First of all, I would like to say that I love the cards. thanks for sharing some tips for me. I am not as good in mass producing cards. No, I have not actually made card sets for gifts but I am considering it. Thanks again for your tips and ideas! It always helps!

  25. Caroline Livermore says:

I haven’t created card sets for gifts in a long time, but if I won the MISTI tool i would start again. Thanks for a great tutorial:)

  29. Shirley P. says:

I like to make multiples of cards with different sayings, so I always have something on hand should the need arise. I love giving/sending cards to my family and friends. The MISTI tool would be so wonderful to have, to help align things and speed up the process when making lots of cards. Thank you so much for the opportunity to have one. Your video was amazing and so helpful!

  30. Michele says:

When I make a card I usually make about 10 of each. Every christmas I give all the ladies at work a gift of 10 to 12 different cards. I do not own a misti at the present time but I think it would help out a lot when I make multiple cards. I’m presently matching them up with a line grid and pencil markings. I love your techniques and that you list all of the products you use after each video. Thanks so much.

  31. Lynda says:

I try and give my MIL sets of cards at least once a year. I had some of her friends say how much they enjoy receiving them…and she has told me that she has “hoarded” more than a few that she doesn’t want to give away!!! Thank you for the chance to win!

  32. Donna E. says:

Your cards are beautiful! And, I have created cards in mass…64 Christmas cards this past year! Thank you for the opportunity to win a MISTI…What a great tool/invention!! ~ Donna E.

  33. Melissa Bass says:

Just sick that I missed out on this drawing. Most all of the cards I make end up as gifts for others or donated to charities such as those that give cards to kids in hospitals, etc. I enjoy making them and I only hope that they brighten someone’s day, too.

  41. Tricia Ann says:

I really don’t mass produce that much, but would find a MISTI stamping tool very beneficial. I always have trouble placing stuff on my cards, or having to realign stamps for extra ink. This seems useful for that cause. I enjoy your blog and your contests! Hope your day was as good as mine!
