Video: Vellum Shaker Card

Hello! Today I have a short video (can you believe it!?) on how to create a vellum shaker card. It’s just as much fun as a regular shaker card, just simplified.

I have recently fallen back in love with vellum… especially when it is heat embossed. For today’s card, I stamped the gorgeous Mama Elephant “Peace On Earth” sentiment on my favorite vellum using VersaMark Ink. (I just love this sentiment because it’s bold and creates the perfect focal point on a card.) Because the sentiment is bold, I was able to use Silver and Gold Ultra High Embossing Powders for a raised image with extra dimension.

Mama Elephant also has a fun die that creates small hearts, stars, and sequin shapes. These tiny flat pieces are perfect for shaker cards! I cut some of the star shapes to go behind my vellum and used a sewing machine to trap them inside. (I recommend using an inexpensive sewing machine that is intended for clothing such as THIS one. Most paper craft sewing machines don’t hold up over time.)

This card is a time saver and eliminates all that extra dimensional bulk of traditional shaker cards!

  1. I am very new to this craft, but found myself not able to do the many things I used to do, so I thought this seemed easy enough for my skill level. Thankfully all the supplies are listed under the card, so that I can easily shop online for the supplies and make the cards at home. I am thinking what a nice and special Christmas Card this would be to make and send to good friends.
Thank you so much for making a nice easy video to watch, that really peaked my interest. Onward to a new adventure.
Thank you for allowing me to glean onto your own creativity.
    Sincerely,
    Suzy Kaminski
