Video: Coloring Texture Paste + GIVEAWAY

Welcome! A few days ago I posted a product release close-up video focusing on the newest products from Tim Holtz and Ranger. I promised to return with a video showing some of these products put to use… and here it is! Check out the fun you can have coloring Texture Paste

I have always loved playing around with techniques. And there are a few that I have enjoyed tremendously along the way. But today’s technique? Well it is right at the top on my list of favorites. It is incredibly addictive!

The new Texture Paste from Ranger is perfect for adding color. Whereas dried Embossing Paste wants to (somewhat) resist Distress Ink applied on top of it (just takes it in lightly – which can be cool!) , dried Texture Paste takes the color like a champ. It is gorgeous! I have showed in the past how you can add color to wet paste (check it out HERE and HERE), but adding the color to the dry paste is easier. Texture Paste gives you the option of doing both. Woot!

By the way… all Ranger products (including Texture Paste, Perfect Pearls and Distress Inks) are 20% off right now at Simon Says Stamp. Use the code RANGERSALE now through 8/10/14.

I applied Texture Paste over the new Tim Holtz Festive stencil and let it dry. I then put the stencil back on top of the dried paste and added various colors of Distress Ink with my Mini Ink Blending Tool and Fantastix. The final touch of a light mix of Perfect Pearls and water creates a lovely shine. I can’t get enough of the results.

I heat embossed the new Tim Holtz “Merry Christmas” message (isn’t that writing unique?! so cool) with the always-so-perfectly-gorgeous Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder. I also used the embossing powder to create a gold paper to put behind my pieces… allowing it to just peek out a bit…

Ahhhhh… I love when I find a new product like Texture Paste that opens the door to amazingly fun techniques. Thank you Ranger and Tim Holtz!

  2. I just bought Tim’s Holiday Knit stencil and am going to get some Texture Paste to try with it. Thanks for your videos, I just love them.

  3. Hey Jen,
I love, love, love the Christmas Tag!!! First I looked to see if I had any of the products I needed, yah not a one! So I went scrambling right away to buy them. I have to say I’m hooked, I love your videos, your cards are always so detailed. What I love even more is that you list every single product, down to what containers you use to store powders, embellishments etc. I hope some of the company’s you list send you some free stuff because I’m sure you make them a lot of money, that’s for sure, lol!! I have a question for you, can you tell me is the Neeneh brown kraft cardstock your favorite brand? I’ve never bought any more than a piece to two at Michaels or AC Moores and I’m looking to purchase like say 25 or 50 pieces of it. Also what about white card stock, which ones versatile with any brand of markers, ink pads, embossing powder??? I was looking at papertrey inks to buy the craft and white cardstock but before I buy any brand I wanted to know if it’s your favorite and why. I looked on the internet for comparisons but couldn’t find any reviews to help me with my decision.
    Thanks
    Lisa

  4. Hey Jen,
It’s me again, I was so busy just coming to ask you that question that I didn’t realize there was a giveaway, lol! I’d live to win, not sure my cards would come out as good as yours but it sure would be fun to try.
    Thanks
    Lisa

  5. I really love this card and the products and techniques look like so much to do! Thanks for the chance to win.

  6. What a cute card! I’ve been in the mood to start making Christmas cards for several weeks and this just added to it! I love the look of the Ranger Texture Paste and that you were able to color it after it’s dry and have such a vibrant effect.

  7. Cannot believe how simply beautiful the texture paste looks with the distress ink on top – and now I have a perfect use for my perfect pearls – thanks so much for the great video. I am equally impressed with what you did with the scraps – very quick with fabulous results!!!

  8. Enjoyed your quick and to the point technics, I haven’t tried texture paste yet, but it will be on my bucket list. Thanks.

  9. I saw on youtube how you made these cards and I love this technique. Recently I am totally into embossingpaste and you show so many techniques on how to use it, thank you for that.

  10. I’ve just done three cards using the above stencil and Grunge Paste. It all worked very well, thought I found the coloring a bit laborious! However, am pleased with the result. I used various holiday images (Santa, Christmas house, wreath) on top of the stencil design. I’m very happy with it and thank YOU very much for guidance!!
