Video: Shaker Card
Hi there! I get a lot of requests for shaker cards. Although, they really aren’t my thing and I haven’t done one in ages, I decided to give one a try by incorporating it into a stamped image. It was fun!

When I saw the stamp set in the new Studio Calico Sandlot Card Kit, I instantly knew I needed to turn that adorable gumball machine into a shaker card. (I mean COME ON… isn’t that stamp the cutest?! Love.) After a bit of creative heat embossing with red, liquid platinum and sparkle embossing powder, I cut out the opening of the machine out with a craft knife. For the “glass” on the shaker, I used a piece of scrap acetate. Small pieces of foam tape are perfect to form the walls of the shaker area… which I then filled in with Studio Calico sequins.
OTHER SHAKER CARDS
I looked around for some other good shaker card tutorials. Here are a couple I found that may be help to you:
- Laura Sterckx – This video shows how to do a shaker card using dies. Simple and fabulous.
- Lawn Fawn – This video from Lawn Fawn shows how you can use “fun foam” (instead of foam tape) for adding dimension around a shaker window.
OTHER GREAT PRODUCTS
The stamp I used above is part of the newest Studio Calico Card Kit. Check out these other great products they recently released. The first is a “teacher” stamp and die combo. (That crayon stamp image? Adorable. And the teacher die will get used a lot here.) The “you’re pretty amazing” die is sitting on my table and am so excited to use it. Finally, the “awesome” stamp and die combo just makes me giddy. So great to use on cards for kids and friends. (Click on each for a closer look.)
Enjoy!
