Video: Letterpress With Wood Embellishments + BIG Giveaway

Hi, everyone! Today’s video is packed full of ideas… including doing letterpress with wood embellishments and changing the look of wood embellishments with color. I also give a peek into a Freckled Fawn OHDEERME Embellishment Kit. Keep reading… I have a special offer and big giveaway!

I absolutely love the look of letterpress and have shared many techniques in the past that give a kinda-like-letterpress look. (Check out one HERE.) But I have to say, today’s technique gives the best results I have seen yet! I am so excited.

This technique is so easy. First, I generously added yellow pigment ink to the back of a Freckled Fawn wood piece (more on that below). Next I created this sandwich with my Big Shot: cutting plate, embossing pad, heavyweight cardstock (or watercolor paper), inked-side-down wood piece and cutting plate. Finally, I ran this through my die cut machine as I would an embossing folder (all tabs open on my Big Shot platform – but you can do this on a Cuttlebug, too). It is amazing how well this works to leave an impression into the paper with bold color! (I am sure all wood pieces and die cut machines are different. Please play around with your products. You may need a different sandwich or need shims. Start with less and build up to more until you get the results you like. I was so excited that the wood didn’t split and lasted through many runs.) You could make a ton of cards with one piece!

I also decided to use the wood piece itself on a card, but wanted to give it a different look. So I covered the front of the wood with yellow and orange pigment ink and a layer of my favorite sparkle embossing powder. I love the new look!

For the background of the card, I created a cloud background with the Judikins Clouds stencil and Mini Ink Blending Tool with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I will definitely be doing this background again!

I also showed in the video a quick card I made with the stamp set that was included in the Freckled Fawn Kit this month. I stamped with pigment inks and used the same sparkle embossing powder. Easy and fun!

FRECKLED FAWN KITS

For these cards, I used the July Freckled Fawn OHDEERME Embellishment Kit. The kit is available alone or you can subscribe and get a unique embellishment kit each month. I have to say, I enjoy these kits so much! (I share quick cards I have made with these kits over on Instagram often.) The kits come in the cutest container and are stuffed full of unique embellishments. Oh! And a stamp set is included! I am in love. (You can see a previous post I did with a FF kit HERE.) For information on subscribing, click HERE.

Note: As usual, I was not asked to do this post, nor paid for it. When I told the folks at Freckled Fawn that I liked their products, they were happy to do a special offer and giveaway.
