So… I again have created a card (two, in fact) that is packed full of “stuff” to teach. First up? Using dies to create two shaped cards. I used the new Pretty Pink Posh borders and created one with curved sides and one with scallop sides. I love that these dies also do little faux stitching marks. (My favorite is the curved card. Which do you like?) I used my favorite watercolor paper simply because I wanted that texture for my simple cards. (This is the same watercolor paper as the Tim Holtz version, but in 8.5×11.)
Next up is the silver embossed greeting. This “so very blessed” sentiment is from Neat & Tangled and happens to be one of my favorite expressions in the whole wide world. To make it stand out, I used the WOW! Ultra High Metallix Silver embossing powder. This is very different than other silver powders. When heated, it results is an embossed image that is thick and smooth with lots of dimension. I. Love. It. I don’t think I will be using it with detail stamped images, but with bold images like this one? It. Is. Perfect. Wow!
Finally… the sequins! In the video I show a few tools that are helpful when working with sequins including the Quickstix and my favorite tweezers. But regardless of how you work with this tiny little stinkers, I highly recommend using Matte Multi Medium to adhere them. Nothing works as well. Nothing.
If you are looking for good quality sequins in pretty colors (not those tacky ones I remember from my dance costumes when I was 5), try Pretty Pink Posh. They have a great selection, including the tiny cute ones I used here. I layered them together to form flowers and added a tiny Hero Arts gem to the center of a finished look. For the leaves, I just colored clear sequins with Copic Markers and cut them into a leaf shape. Easy! (Ellen Hutson has a large selection of PPP sequins. Simon Says Stamp also carries them, but you can find the complete selection on PPP’s website.)
