Video: Ink + Embossing Folders… and GIVEAWAY
Happy Saturday. Today’s video shows a technique that I haven’t used in a long time but love a ton – inked embossing folders. This is such an easy technique… so I made six cards in no time at all.

This is one of my all time favorite techniques since it is a great way to stretch products and get new looks. Embossing folders are inexpensive and come in a ton of patterns. To apply ink into the “valleys” of the dry embossing, I simply applied ink into one side of an open embossing folder. I put some white cardstock in the folder, closed it and ran it through my die cut machine. After removing it, the raised areas are left white, with the ink only in the valleys. I then applied another color of ink just to the raised areas.
I have found Hero Arts Shadow, Simon Says Stamp and WPlus9 Inks work incredibly well with this technique since they absorb and even out as they dry. However, you can try any ink you have. I also used a bunch of new 6×6 embossing folders from Lifestyle Crafts (We R Memory Keepers). I love that these are big enough to emboss horizontal or vertical patterns… and still fit through my die cut machines.
Isn’t that script “thinking of you” greeting gorgeous? That is from the new Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit. (Or you can buy just the stamp set alone HERE.) This is one of those greetings that is designed so well that you don’t need much else with it. Love.
I used various fun embossing powders on the cards… and I am loving the WOW powders… thanks to their great price points. In the video I also shared how I use coffee filters to help with embossing powder! (And apparently I am not the first person to think of doing this. Why had I not heard of it before?! Works so well!)
The die cut piece in the center is from the Lil Inker Stitched Rectangle die set. The faux stitching that these dies give is perfection – a nice finishing touch. So much more interesting than a plain rectangle piece floating in the middle of the card.
I also added a few die cut hearts to each card… covered with Glossy Accents.
Just a reminder that all of these embossing folders and ink colors are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this post. 🙂
And here is a look at each card. Just click for a closer peek…
Six cards! Whew. Loving this technique. I will be back in a couple days for a spin on this technique.
