Video: DIY Embossed Patterned Paper + 3 Cards + Giveaway!

Hello! A few days ago I posted a video showcasing the newest Lawn Fawn products. Today I have another video using several of these great products… and showing how to create your own colorful and embossed patterned paper.

Many great stamp sets come with tiny little images such as hearts, stars, dots and flowers. Often these little images get overlooked, but today’s technique allows them to shine. By repeatedly heat embossing lots and lots of these little guys in fun colors of embossing powders, I created my own vibrant patterned paper. Be sure to watch the video — I show tips for speeding up this process.

For these cards, created my own paper by starting with green cardstock and heat embossing small images from the Lawn Fawn Chit Chat, Hello Baby and Love You S’more sets. I used various colors of opaque WOW embossing powders. (I hadn’t really used many of their powders before and I am very impressed. They have a HUGE variety and the price of one bottle is very low!) From one 4.25″x5.5″ piece of DIY-patterned-paper, I was able to create three cards.

The first card showcases the DIY-patterned-paper behind a partial die cut greeting panel. This Lawn Fawn Thanks Scripty die has won my heart. Swoon! (I will do another video on this technique soon.)

For the second card, I die cut a “19” from the DIY-patterned-paper using the new Lawn Fawn Louies die set. (This is an excellent set and I have already used it for two of Colin’s school projects!) I also created a white-on-white number background to give it a bit of interest. (Sidenote: I can’t believe our oldest, Kay, will be 19 next month! Oh my.)

The third card was super quick and basic. On top of a strip of my DIY-patterned-paper, I added three greetings from the Lawn Fawn Chit Chat set. Those greetings are perfection.

By the way, you can speed up the amount of time it takes to create the DIY-patterned-paper by just stamping with colorful inks on a light paper. But I just love the bright color on the bright background. And using a mini spoon to better control the powder and a Swiffer cloth to help with clean up makes a *big* difference.

By the way, I did this video for my friends over at Lawn Fawn to share on their blog. You can see the post HERE.
