Video: White Outline Copic Coloring + Giveaway!
Hello once again! Today I have another video (I am on a roll) showing how to get a white outline on a Copic colored image. I also give tips for using other markers and for a sparkle embossing paste background. Oh – and I have a giveaway!
I love the bold, blended coloring I can achieve with my Copic Markers. I also like the look of a colored image with white outlines. However, I don’t like my Copics to touch white embossing powder as sometimes it leaves residue on the marker tip. You could still do it and be careful not to touch the embossing, but for a detailed image like this, it is hard to do.
There are many solutions to this, but the one I used seems to work best for me. I first lightly stamped on Neenah cardstock this fun Lil’ Inker Designs Modern Mehndi flower stamp (more on that in a second) with a super light ink that is Copic friendly – Studio Calico Color Theory Blush Crush ink. I then colored it with my Copics. When I was done, I stamped the same image with Versamark ink directly on top of the first image and added the white embossing powder. Easy! If you need help lining up the second stamped image with the first, you can use a stamp positioner. It only takes a few seconds more and pays off in the end.
For the background, I added white embossing paste over the new (and oh soooooo very cool) Memory Box Radio Waves stencil. (This may hold the title of “best stencil of all time” right now.) I immediately added sparkle embossing powder and heat set it. Finally, I added a green cardstock strip and a Technique Tuesday “hello” greeting.
If you don’t have Copic Markers, you can instead first white heat emboss the image and color in with any regular marker. The white embossing will resist the marker ink and give quick results. Oh and the technique I use would also work great with colored pencils and gamsol. (I have videos with that coming up in the future.)
Now… back to that adorable flower stamp. It is perfect for coloring with Copics or a variety of other fun techniques. The stamp set is from a company called Lil’ Inker Designs. This new-to-me company has really caught my eye lately with fun stamps and dies. Oh – and I met the owner at CHA and it turns out she is a nice as can be. Bonus!
