Video: Intricate Stencils + New SSS Inks

Hi there. Today’s video shows tips for using intricate stencils and also a look at the newest ink colors from Simon Says Stamp.

I am crazy about all the new stencils out there right now — especially the intricate ones. However, sometimes the intricate ones are tough to work with because they move when doing techniques. I found the best solution and wanted to share it here. I give the back of the stencil (like this Leafy Branches stencil from Memory Box) a light spray of Krylon Repositionable Adhesive which makes it feel like a sticky note. I also tape down anything I can with painter’s tape. Between the two, I find the stencil stays in place enough to allow me to add pastes, etc. (I just leave the spray on the stencil for future use, but you could clean it off.)

After positioning my stencil, I applied a thin layer of silver Ferro. The texture is so unique! I finished the card off with a script background, “hello” die cut covered with Wink of Stella and mini bird die cuts with Glossy Accents.

In the video, I also give a closer look at the newest ink colors from Simon Says Stamp. These inks have the formulation I like best that gives smooth, even coverage. (Same as Hero Arts Shadow Inks.) I will be using those greys and yellows a lot! They also have matching cardstock. If you are interested in the free ink swatch download for these new colors, click HERE.
