Video: Inlaid Die Cutting + Giveaway!

Hi there, stampers. Today’s video shows a trick for doing die cut inlaying with intricate dies and also introduces the new Wink of Luna metallic pens.

[All supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this post.]

Die cut inlaying is one of my favorite techniques… one that I have showed here and in my Online Card Classes many times. (Check out the links below.) However, sometimes the technique can take a lot of time when there are lots of tiny pieces. Instead of skipping out of the cool technique, I figured out a trick that helps quite a bit. It isn’t easy to explain in text but makes sense when you see it in action… so be sure to check out the video above. I used the new My Favorite Things Gerber Daisy dies. (These dies are free with a $60 purchase at MFT. This set is amazing… so stock up on stamps, dies and cardstock or try out their new hybrid ink and get it for free! Woot!) Although I did my coloring with Copics, you could use any markers. To keep it simple, I die cut around the flower with my frequently-used MFT Pierced Circle Die and added it to a 4.25″x4.25″ card.

Oh… and I almost forgot to mention the greeting. (Since I almost forgot to add it to the card, too!) I did that with the cute, tiny little “hello” die from the MFT Smart Phone set. I gave it a subtle pewter look my covering it with silver Wink of Luna metallic marker. Yep – you heard me right. Shimmery Stella has a sister and her name is Metallic Luna. She looks best in silver and black. 😉

Die cut inlaying can be tricky, but I think the smooth results are worth the effort. Remember – you could save a lot of time by just layering the individual die cuts for a similar look!
