Video: Making the Most of Your Dies

Hello!

Today I am a guest over on the Simon Says Stamp blog… showing some fun ways to make the most of wafer thin dies

I shared two cards in the video. Here is the first…

For this card, I used the outline of the hearts from the Heart Parade die just as a guide for where all the floating hearts were to be placed. Worked perfectly! This works with any die that has lots of inside space, such as doilies, etc.

This is also a great way to use up scraps. For shimmer and shine, I covered the pieces with a few layers of Wink of Stella shimmer and finally Glossy Accents.

Oh, and that greeting? It is from Kelly Purkey and I love it.

Here is another card using the same Heart Parade die

This card shows two techniques. One is to use the die to create impressions on watercolor paper (because I love it’s texture and thickness) using an embossing pad. The other technique is to paper piece the die cuts and pop them up… and cover them with Wink of Stella shimmer.

Oh, and I used the same awesome Kelly Purkey stamp set.

Here is a look at the Heart Parade die and Kelly Purkey stamp set I used – both from Simon Says Stamp. Look closely – that stamp set has lots of good and unique messages in it.

Be sure to head over to the Simon Says Stamp blog for more projects! Also, check out THIS card my friend Lucy did with the same die just yesterday. Great minds think alike! Love hers.

As always, thanks for visiting my little stamping world.

The part of your video I liked most: your stamping mistake. I think letting us see that it’s possible to fix a mistake, and not panic, is very helpful! I’ve been stamping for over twenty years and sometimes I still get this feeling of, “I MUST do it right, or all is lost” and I forget to have fun. Thanks!
