For the Love of Coloring + Giveaway

So – like many of you – I love to color. And I get giddy when I find stamp images that just scream “COLOR ME!” It makes me so happy.

I had been seeing many of the new Purple Onion Design stamps lately thanks to the coloring master herself, Kathy Racoosin. I finally got some for myself and I am oh so very happy I did. And the folks over at Purple Onion Design have a sale going on right now – 25% off – with the code “HOL2013” before 12/6/13! You can find more info HERE. You can see the newest stamps HERE.

Here are a couple cards I created…

Aren’t those snowmen the cutest?! So fun to color. I used my Prismacolor Pencils for this one… just doing the shading and blending with lighter colors. I also covered most of the guys with Wink of Stella for shimmer. I also added a little birdie to one of them. I used a black Paper Pen to make the eyes dimensional.

And the background? I added Embossing Paste heavily over the awesome Falling Snow Stencil. I LOVE these results. The paste dries somewhat soft – perfect for snow.

This Santa that I used on the next card also won my heart. Sigh. He is magical.

I used my Prismacolor Pencils with gamsol on this card. I have fallen back in love with gamsol! (I have a REALLY old video showing how to use it HERE… but I will do more videos in the near future.)

Lots of Wink of Stella on the white trim and beard. Wish it would have photographed better…

Here is a look at that embossing paste snow in the background. Love…

BTW… Purple Onion Design stamps are unmounted rubber. But don’t let that scare you! Guess what I do – I just temporarily adhere the rubber to one of my acrylic mounts and stamp as I normally would. I don’t fuss with adding foam… and they stamp beautifully. Just like a clear stamp.

Enjoy!

(And, as always, I wasn’t paid to do this post. I just like their stamps and was happy to use them as a guest. I have loved POD stamps for years and remember using their alphabet stamps mannnny years ago on my scrapbook pages. The owner Michele is wonderful.)

  16. I am in love with the Stacey Yacula stamps, also~ all of them are super cute! Have you seen the Stephanie Ackerman “welcome to the neighborhood” stamps?? Also super cute~ 🙂 and no one colors these images better than Kathy Racoosin~ 🙂

  17. Such cute cards! I especially like the falling snow and subtle shimmer. I truly love your artistic style, easy and concise instructions, tips and substitutes. I look forward to learning more. Thanks a bunch for sharing your light! 🙂

  18. The snowmen are adorable!!! I, too, love to color. Sometimes being a grown up is tough and it’s nice to get back to the carefree days of childhood (even coloring outside the lines!!).

  19. Oh my gosh, these images are adorable and oh so sweet, the way you have colored them with the pencils and gamsol. I haven’t tried that just because I’m very allergic. I’ve been playing with my Christmas cards this week and I can not stop! I did something I never do and went in a direction that I normally would not take. I’m gonna blame it on the Insiders Online Card Class Day 1, where we did those gorgeous water color stamping on the water color paper, plus I added some glitter for a vintage vibe. Can’t wait to share them on my blog. Yes, Kathy’s card art is so amazing too! Thanks for all that You do and Share.
