Video: Embossing with Dies + Caring Hearts Blog Hop + BIG Giveaways!
Today I am part of the Caring Hearts Card Drive Blog Hop. This card drive is to collect holiday cards for folks in nursing homes and I am helping the wonderful Vera in leading it. For more information on how you can send in cards (and win prizes), head HERE.
I have three simple holiday cards for you today… good designs for this card drive! They use a fun embossing-with-dies technique and piecing of some die cuts…
I used the Memory Box Pine Border Outline die to cut from lots of colorful cardstocks. I then arranged them like puzzle pieces on a piece die cut from the matching solid Pine Border Background die. So easy! And the best part? I had TONS of leftover pieces to make more cards!
One thing that is super hard to see in these photos is that I used the Mama Elephant Frames die to emboss a fun frame on the front of the card. Embossing with dies is easy to do on any machine with the Tan Embossing Mat. Just put the paper between the die and the Tan Embossing Mat and run it through my die cut machine as I would an embossing folder. Easy and classy! This adds so much to the look of this card in person. You can best see this on the photo above.
This greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Hellos set.
Of course, I added a layer of Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents for shimmer and shine.
And another example. This greeting is from the My Favorite Things Ornament Banner Builder stamp set…
I just love these non-conventional holiday colors…
Here is the third one I made with some leftover pieces from the last. It is hard to see on these that I used the My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Stax to emboss the frame.
This greeting is from the Neat and Tangled Simple Christmas stamp set. That handwriting is perfect for this card.
Now it is time to continue on this special blog hop… just head on over to the Simon Says Stamp blog. (You can also start the hop at Vera’s blog. There are a HUGE number of prizes – it is well worth it!)
So we have BIG giveaways for you on this hop… and A LOT of them! We will select winners from comments left on the participant’s blog (randomly), so the more blogs you comment on (including here!), the higher your chance of winning. Winners will be picked at midnight on 11/12/13. Here are some of the companies who donated prizes that you could win. (For a complete list, head HERE.) And you can also win big prizes by sending in your cards for the drive.
