Ghost Stamping on Kraft (MFT Guest Designer Teaser Time)

Hi there!

I am the July guest designer for the wonderful folks over at My Favorite Things and will be sharing a few things throughout the month. Today is what they call “Teaser Time” – where designers share cards using the soon-to-be-released stamps. And they are good ones! (Be sure to head to the My Favorite Things Blog for all the new goodies along with a list of designers participating. Oh, and a giveaway!)

I have two cards today using the new My Favorite Things Tropical Sensations stamp set. I also used one of my favorite techniques with kraft paper – “ghost stamping” – stamping with white pigment first and then with dye ink on top, slightly offset. I LOVE the results of this technique. (You can see it in action in my video HERE.)

This card was fun to make. I first stamped the flowers with Unicorn White Pigment Ink on the fabulous My Favorite Things Kraft cardstock. (I used masking with Eclipse paper to avoid messy overlapping.) I then stamped the same images on top of the first with yellow MFT Lemon Drop dye ink… but slightllllllly offset. But doing it a bit offset, you get that dark line on some of the edges of the images. Basically – where you see light/bright yellow, it is the yellow ink overlapping the white. Where you see the thin lines of dark yellow? That is where it was offset. Makes a cool look. This technique works with white pigment ink on the bottom and a dye or chalk ink on the top. I did the same for the leaves.

I also used my Gold Wink of Stella pen to add shine to the petals… and my green one for lines on the leaves and pink for the center of the flowers…

My second card uses the same “ghost stamping” technique. I stamped all the pieces in white pigment ink, and then again with various MFT dye inks

I am really enjoying the darker/brighter MFT dye ink colors. They are tasty and work great for this technique! Oh – and I used my white pen to add some highlights to the flower…

Again, be sure to stop by the MFT blog for more. They have 10 new Stamp Sets, 12 new Die-namics, a new Triple Scoop (a few set for with a minimum purchase) and new inks. They will also have a giveaway! They are even celebrating their 7th birthday with this release!. The latest products will be available at 10pm EST on Tuesday, July 9th.

Enjoy!
