Video: Distress Markers + Mama Elephant

Hi!

I am a guest over on the Mama Elephant blog again today (love that place). I decided to use their normally-clean-and-simple stamps in a not-so-clean-and-simple way… using lots of Distress Marker inkiness…

You could create this watercolor look with regular watercolors or Distress Inks, but the Markers make it so easy…

That new Mama Elephant Filigree stamp set? Lovely.

For more information, head over to the Mama Elephant blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. oh nooooo another set I want and we are traveling next week to USVI – you are SO GOOD at enabling on all levels! God bless, Susan

  2. Really pretty and I always love the look of watercolor! I still think that Distress Inks and Markers are some of the most versatile inks and markers out there!

  3. Thanks for the video and all of the tips! I just got a distress marker set for my birthday and the video is so helpful on how to use them!!

  4. I’m so glad you make videos and share your awesome ideas with us, Jennifer! I love how this watercolor technique looks and your card is incredibly gorgeous! Time to look at my Distress Markers a little differently. Thanks so much!

  5. Wow! This is a beautiful design. Can’t wait to practice this technique. Thank you for sharing!

  6. Such a beautiful card and great tutorial! Thank you for reminding me why I bought the full set of distress markers. Mine have been collecting dust on my shelf as I have yet to use them. 😉

  7. Love the effect of colouring in that doily with the water-colours (Distress Markers, I know, but they do look like watercolours. Do you think the Inktense pencils would give the same effect?

  8. This may be one of my very favorite cards you’ve made! I absolutely love the colors and the technique. Thank you for sharing a terrific video and card!

  9. How do you not overheat the already embossed areas when you heat embossed the “wishing you” and the “always”? I find when I try that, the first part that I heat embossed melts into the paper ruining it and it goes flat….how did you avoid that?

  10. Another FAB card..and another stamp set I purchased after seeing your video! I have to say, it was a new technique for me to try and I tried..and not so successfully copying your card (hope you don’t mind) I don’t have a blog or post any of my creations on. But mine of cours didn’t turn out anything like yours..sadly to say..I was bummed, but love the stamp set! Thanks agian for the great inspiration!

  11. Hi Jennifer

By chance I found some time ago your great vide tutorial for the water resist technique with Distress Markers. Your card is really great, I love both the stamps you used as well as the colours. As I have many Distress Markers (which I unfortunately don’t use so often), I thought this is a great opportunity to use them and I made a card using the same colours. I just showed it on my blog and I put a link to your blog and your card. I hope that is okay for you.

    Thanks for that great tutorial!

    Kind regards
    Carola
