Scrapbooking + For Sale

Hello!

Years ago when I was a full-time scrapbooker, I met a lot of kind people on the 2Peas message board. One was Debbi, who hosted challenges based on my books. Debbi now is over on the CSI Challenge Blog and asked me if I would be a guest. I had to say yes – she had always been so wonderful to me.

But this was tough for me! I hadn’t scrapbooked in a very long time. Very long. And it wasn’t easy. However, I am so glad I did it. I realized I missed working with photos. (More on that below.)

Here is what I created – my first Lila page…

I used various wafer thin dies… and used the words to a song I sing to her every time I put her down for a nap.

And another… using all photos from my iPhone…

One thing is for sure – I am very rusty when it comes to scrapbooking. And I am not “on trend” with what all the scrapbookers are doing these days. And I don’t really like what I created. But doing these pages made me realize something – – I need to scrapbook my photos. But not like I used to. In a new way. I will be sharing this journey with you a bit soon. I originally wasn’t going to, as I try to keep this blog for cardmaking. But I think it will be fun to share sometimes what I will be doing – a card maker and stamper’s approach to scrapbooking. Stay tuned.

(And by putting this on my blog, I am being held accountable – lol.)

Are any of you out there scrapbookers? Would love to know…

As I mentioned earlier, I am trying very hard to finish moving into my new craft space. While doing so, I am uncovering extra goodies that need a new home. If you are interested in buying any of these goodies listed below, please mention which in the comments below and I will randomly pick someone to contact. Here are some current boxes I have:

  • A box of christian stamps
  • A box of Stampin’ Up stamps
  • A box of Papertrey Ink stamps
  • A box of 12×12 paper

Thanks!

  1. Your style is classic, graphic and all your own. I missed your articles and layouts so much when you stopped writing for CK – it is WONDERFUL to see you scrapbooking again. And Lila will adore looking through her pages, same way that Colin does now, I guess. Its all about the memories and those photos are too gorgeous to stay on a phone!
I have twin sons who are 20 months old, so I can’t afford to stay current and actually don’t much like most of the steampunk/vintage/retro trends out there, but try and use what I have, when I get a chance to scrapbook! I am first and foremost a scrapbooker, and have been for 8 or so years. I do like making cards, and yours are ALWAYS inspirational. I really look forward to seeing what you do in the time that comes …. I would love some of your products (esp Papertrey/SU), but can’t afford much, and also currently live in the UK …

  2. Can’t wait to see your pages! I always love to see your adorable family and have always loved your colourful and simple scrapbooking style! good luck with the new journey.

  3. Thanks for posting! I used to be a huge scrapbooker, and now have done mostly the Project Life route, especially as our family has grown. But I do miss scrapbooking in the traditional sense– but not sure how to jump back into it, knowing that it can’t be as technique-heavy as I used to do before my life became crazy with kiddos. I’m looking for a way to do memory keeping and to retain some traditional layouts– and my sanity!

  4. I am a scrapbooker who makes cards (but actually hates making cards!). Terrible to admit that on a card making site. I visit your page every day and find your style and techniques really useful. I use stamps in my scrapbooking ALL the time. Your layouts are great and your daughter is a real cutie.

  5. I think your layouts look great. Your daughter is adorable. I would be interested in the Papertrey ink stamps and Stampin up stamps.

  6. Hi! Thanks for sharing that you post photos on instagram…love how your new room is turning out. I’m sure that the simple fact that it is now upstairs makes it even that much more special. p.s. i luv anything papertrey ink or religious 😉

  7. Hi Jennifer,
I really love your Lila pages. Very clean and the embellies do not overshadow the photos. Very well done and I can’t wait to see what else you do.

I would love to purchase the PTI stamps.

  8. Thank you for sharing your recent scrapbook page! I have followed your work with hero arts and two peas and am personally very happy you have decided to return to scrapbooking. As a scrapbooker, I am inspired by your style, technique and your perspective and look forward to following your journey back to scrapbooking. Yay for you.

  9. thanks for posting this beautiful LO. I would interested in stamps I have just started and need to build up a nice supply thanks for this chance

  10. I am with you and I haven’t scrapbooked for years. I recently quit my job and with the currently economy I often wonder if I made the right decision. With my time freed up, my husband has been encouraging me to scrapbook (my oldest leaves for college this fall). Hoping that I can get back into the scrapbook mode. Thank You for the inspiration. I would love to purchase any PTI stamps you are will to get rid of. Thanks!!

  11. I haven’t scrapbooked since my youngest son graduated from HS. I did some pages for display for his Open House. I have been concentrating on making cards for OWH.
I would be interested in any of the boxes. Thank you.

  12. Your little Lila is so precious!! She is getting to be a big girl now. I’d be interested in the Papertrey stamps ….. thank you!

  13. I love your layouts! I’m a scrapbooker myself, but follow your blog because I’m so inspired by your work. I think your pages are clean and lovely….sometimes I think we put too much on our pages and forget that the photos are the true focus. Yours are balaced perfectly.

    Thank you for sharing!

  14. I’m a scrapbooker! And I’ve loved following your work for years in Creating Keepsakes and on Two Peas. I would love to see your new approach, since you’ve inspired me for years.

    Lila is adorable, too!

  15. Am excited to see your venture back into scrapbooking! I do think you have some of the cutest kids on earth so that part will be fun to see too! Enjoyed your LO’s, thanks for sharing!
Would be interested in PTI stamps.

  16. Jennifer I love seeing your scrapbook pages. They are so nice and your little daughter is adorable. I to am starting up scrapbooking again and would love to see more pages that you do. I have been making cards and quit scrapbooking and I’m finding it hard to switch gears if you know what I mean. Good Luck I’m sure you will do great and your off to a good start.

  17. Yes, I scrapbook and make cards and minibooks on a regular basis. There is no reason why you have to pin yourself as one or the other. I think many people have turned to cards because they are quicker than your average page. But you can make pages in so many ways these days and you can add your faves (stamps, diecuts, stickers, etc) to them any way you like, so why not make a page once a week or once a month? It keeps you well-rounded, I say. Can’t wait to see what you post! (I’d be a fan of the Papertrey Ink stamps, btw….)

  18. Oh my! I’d love to lay my hands on the PTI stamps! Thank you for being willing to share your love for these stamp sets!

  19. I would like to get the Christian stamps 🙂
To answer you question I am a cardmaker and scrapbooker. Look forward to see what great ideas you come up with..

  20. Cute pages! And yes, please please PLEASE start sharing scrapbook pages. I am pretty much scrapbook-only and I make cards on very rare occasions. I love your techniques and I always try to use them on scrapbook pages but sometimes it’s difficult to translate a design from card format to a huge 12×12 layout.

  21. I have never scrapbooked (is that a word?). I love card making. As for Lila, I am a great-grandmother and she is undoubtedly one of the prettiest babies I have seen in a long time. I could just squeeze her and love her. I imagine she gets plenty of that from you. I would love to put my name in the hat for PTI stamps and inspirational(spiritual) stamps. Thanks.

  22. I’m a card maker who also scrapbooks…but my card making has taken precedence as well…am looking forward to sharing your journey…btw, would be interested in the Christian stamps.

  23. The scrapbook pages are wonderful – love how you handled the many little pictures we all gather in our phones and look forward to seeing your cad-maker’s take on scrapbooking in the future.
As to what goodies would be welcome at my house – PaperTrey stamps are among my favorites.

  24. I haven’t scrapped in ages, either, but your pages have inspired me to finish those halfway done books!

I’d love to buy the Stampin Up stamps, if you still have them available.

  25. I was very excited to see your scrapbook pages – thanks for sharing! I look forward to sharing your journey with you.

  26. I really like your pages! Especially the first one. I am a scrapbooker and am slowly going more digital than anything. Scrapbooking has definitely changed and is evolving with technology and new products but I love being able to tell my story and that of my family with pictures and words. It is so easy to sort of have the stumbling block of not being in trend with what the rest of the scrapbooking world is doing. That is when I have to remind myself that this is my story and not someone else’s. My unique way of telling our story is what makes it all the more special for my family. (Or at least I hope so!) Thank you for sharing your precious little Lila with us!

  27. I was a scrapbooker before I got into cardmaking. now I haven’t scrapbooked in way too long! I love you pages of Lila. If I would just tell myself each page doesn’t have to be a work of art and not spend all day on 1-2 pages, I could get more done. Maybe you will inspire me to do just that. I would be interested in the PTI stamps if they are ones I don’t already have.

  28. I don’t scrapbook either, because I’m primarily a mixed media/cardmaking/bookmaking inclined person. So I will be very interested in seeing your journey — and maybe learning a few things. (And making more time for pictures!)

    And…..I liked your pages!

  29. Beautiful pages, that baby girl is so photogenic! I am interested in the box of 12×12 paper! What can I do to get that?

  30. I love your layouts of you little one, she is such a doll!! I miss your scrapbook pages.

I would love a chance at the Papertrey Ink stamps!! thanks

  31. Lila is adorable!

I feel your pain with scrapbooking…My husband used to work for Hewlett-Packard so we’d get all our pictures printed there and I have TONS of pics to scrap…but I fell in love with cardmaking and I’ve been dreading getting back into scrapbooking. BUT, I do have photos that need to be cherished…

I guess I’m intrigued to see what you’ve come up with to see if it’ll work in our home, too! 🙂

  32. I’d be interested in any of the items you’re getting rid of, thanks!

As for scrapbooking, I began doing that but seem to get much more out of cardmaking as it makes me feel good when people really like a handmade card they’ve received. I have tons of vacation photos that have yet to see an album, and likely never will. How unfortunate! Maybe you can help inspire me to tackle that issue. Thanks.
