Holiday Thinking Inking Week 4

Hello.

It is the 4th week of my free 8-week online class I am teaching over at 2Peas called Holiday Thinking Inking. This week shares ideas for using acrylic paints for stamping. These are simple techniques – don’t let the thought of paints scare you!

Here are the links for Week 4 of Holiday Thinking Inking – Paint:

  • Click HERE for the whole event, including 3 projects, 3 handouts and a video.
  • Have questions? Click HERE for the discussion thread for this week.
  • Be sure to head over to 2Peas for it – there are challenges and prizes.

Hope you have with paints and stamps. The combo really is fabulous.

Ah, and this video again shows the Electric Big Shot in action. I am telling you – hands down – this is the ultimate in die cutting machines. You can use any die or embossing folder with it. And is strong. And it is electric. It works like butter – so easily. You will quickly retire your Cuttlebug. (Gasp!) I promise.

All the shims are attached and you can quickly use ANY dies and embossing pieces (Spellbinders, Papertrey, etc.) with this and you no longer have to remember which pieces are needed and which arrangement. This takes care of it all. Awesome.

You will see me using these a lot. I have waited for a long time to share my love for this machine. I wanted to be sure it was worth it – and it truly is.

While you are reading this, I am somewhere in the magical world of Disney with my family. (And to all you Roxie fans – no worries. She is home safe and sound with the company of family staying at our house while we are gone.) I will tweet pictures once and awhile. Happy day!

Have a great time w/the family in Disney…one of the perks we have in homeschooling is that we get to go on vacations while others are working/in school, too! Enjoy the short lines! 🙂

  6. So much cool inspiration again. Beautiful cards as ALWAYS! Love the Letterpress idea…pure genius!!! Thanks so much for another awesome video.

  7. Beautiful cards and neat techniques! Thanks so much for sharing them all. So I have a question since you’ve used both items. If a gal was on a limited budget and could only buy one, which do you recommend – the silhouette or the electric big shot? Thanks!

  8. Some awesome techniques. thanks so much for sharing. I wish you could post pictures of the cards after the video so we can see them in full after seeing how you created them. thanks again!!

  10. Thanks Jennifer!

I just bought some paint dabbers (when T!m was on QVC) and I’m soooooooooo glad you showed me how to use them on stamps.

Also, LOVE the idea of using the thin strips for the look of a matte.

  11. I love how you list your supplies at the end of your posts–it is extremely helpful to view them that way.
    Thanks!

  12. Thanks again for your videos. That’s a great hint about using a post-it note to hold your paper in place when using the border die. I’ll have to remember that one. Love your “painting” the embossing plate also. I’ll have to try that one also. As always you are a great inspiration to me – your cards are always great. Have fun with your family at Disney!!!

  13. I like the pearl dabber, really nice color. I guess I’ll have to buy it 🙂 Enjoy your stay at Disney. Also, glad Roxie is ok :-).

  14. Thanks for the inspirations … I’m gotta go find some time to play with my paint dabbers 🙂 Hope you’re having a great time in Disney!

  15. another great video! ty so much…I just really love these! Hope Collin is better and the rest of the trip is a blast! You make me wonder if I need a Vagabond or not…lol…just know I need something more than my bug!You make me want to make things all day long! I love my dabbers too! xo

  16. Very inspiring and great cards! Didn’t know you can use acrylic paint with stamps, that’s very interesting.

Disney is the best!!! I had the most awesome time in Disney World this past April. Have a wonderful adventure!!!

  17. Wonderfully inspiring video! And I’m so glad to see your recommendation of the electric Big Shot. I did some damage to my shoulder from using my Cuttlebug to make a huge card order (cranked through 80 times). Now when I use my Cuttlebug it’s painful, but I love to use it OFTEN! My doctor asked me if they made an electric machine I could use, and I told him yes they do, and he recommended I get it. So do you think if I tell my husband I have to get the electric Big Shot, doctor’s orders, he will be OK with it, hee hee? Seriously, I think I’m going to ask for one for Christmas.

  18. Can’t wait to take my Grandbaby to Disney! Enjoy your time there. Thanks for the awesome video. They are always so helpful.

  19. Thank you so much Jennifer for saying Electric Big Shot is the way to go. I have never owned any die cutting machine before. For some time now I have been looking into buying one for myslef but was torn between a cuttlebug and Electric Big Shot. I guess, I can now put mind at ease. Thank you for solving my deliemma.

  20. you are amazing, Jennifer! the video is awesome, it really makes me want to dig out my paint dabbers and get messy! hope i’ll fine the time to play. have fun!!

  21. i have a lot of acrylic paint and wonder if this tech would work with them. i too have a shoulder proplem and think that the electric one would help ease the pain. the cards are beautiful. thanks for the ideas.

  22. Love your Thinking Inking series. Wonderful ideas and inspiration. Live the electric Sizzix, too. Hope you are having an awesome time in Disneyland, the happy place.
