Day 4 of HA/PTI Stamp Challenge & Cards for Kids Winners… & GIVEAWAY!

Hi! I do believe it is World Cardmaking Day. But since every single day is World Cardmaking Day in my house, it is just another day. 🙂 But I hope you all get a chance to get crafty today. In celebration, I have three giveaways today – three fab dies from Tim Holtz generously donated by the rockin' Simon Says Stamps – for someone who leaves a comment here my Sunday night…

Quickly, before sharing my card for the day I wanted to let you know that the Cards for Kids card drive winners for this round have been announced! Please check Kristina's blog HERE to see the winners. We will soon be announcing the next round, along with sharing updates on the kids. Thanks for your support – we got over 1500 cards this round. That is 1500 smiles that these kids really needed. God bless ya all.

Now… it is Day 4 of my Hero Arts and Papertrey Ink Challenge with Maile Belles. I really should re-think who I do these challenges with – she is giving me a run for my money! So talented, she is.  Today we are using the Hero Arts Paper Art Cling and the Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 4 die cut

And here is my take on this challenge. I inked the floral stamp with various shades of Distress Inks. Before stamping, I misted from about 2 feet away (this is key – don't ever spray close) before stamping. I repeated this to cover the watercolor paper piece. To soften the whole look, I did two things. First, I used my Ink Blending Tool to apply Scattered Straw Distress Ink over the whole piece. Second, I did several mists of water over the whole card, creating a fun textured look.

This die cut rocks…

You can see the look-of-texture created by that final mist of water…

Now be sure to head on over to Maile's blog to see her masterpiece!

I am off to hang out with the hubby – he has been gone all week. Take care.

  1. That is such a great hint, to mist from 2 feet away. Now I know what I’ve been doing wrong! This card has such depth, from the darker color at the corners, to the blended colors, to the watercolor/mist technique. It really looks like old brocade or something. And the choice of stamps is perfect!

  2. Jennifer, that is a beautiful card – the colours, the look of textures from the spritzing, the die-cut, I simply love everything about it! Thank you for the chance to win such a yummy give-away. Can’t wait for your new series of Thinking Inking of classes to begin.

What distress ink colours were used in your card and what/where is that rose from? TIA

  3. What a beautiful card! I love the softness the water misting added. Thanks for a chance at some great goodies also.

  4. Wow wonderful card, Jennifer! I love the fab warm colours and gorgeous design! Thanks for the tip about misting from 2ft away – I was trying to do this today but was misting from about 2 inches so now I know why it didn’t work! Thanks for the chance to win one of these brilliant Tim Holtz dies!

  5. Beautiful card Jennifer! Did you put the scattered straw on and mist before stamping? I was unclear, probably my comprehension skills! Ha! I am always amazed at how you pull off such beauty with the distress inks . . . I’m not doing so well, EVEN after a personal class with Tim! Shhh, don’t tell him. 🙂 You make me want to keep trying. 🙂
