Home!

Once again, I am home… and home for awhile.

My weekend in New York City was unbelievable. The perfect weekend.  I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful I am feeling.  Nichol (from Kansas) and Kelly (who lives in NYC) are true gems, and I am so very thankful to call them friends.  We had such fun laughing, chatting, eating, giggling, eating, walking and eating some more. I was able to cross a few things off my bucket list (including seeing a show on Broadway, etc.) and that feels so good.  Anyone who knows me knows that my mind is always going and never stops, much to my dismay. The only place that had ever made it stop was the Caribbean. However, it turns out the hustle and bustle of NYC shuts it down, too – such a good thing for me.  If you ever have the chance to escape with friends from faraway, do it.  You have no idea how much it will feed your soul.  We all deserve that.

So… lots to catch up on now!  All good stuff.  Before I share a card, I thought I would mention some new classes in a new location!  If you are in the DC area, I will be teaching at Angela's Happy Stamper in August.  Angela has been asking me for a very long time – longer than anyone else – so I knew where to plan my first store trip.  I can't wait and hope to meet a few of you there!  For info, click HERE.

On to a card…

This one is from the Hero Arts site.  I wanted to give a close up of this – the technique is so cool in real life, and so easy to do.  The center piece was white cardstock with the image white heat embossed.  I then rubbed the Hero Arts purple chalk ink over it – swirling it around as I pressed the pad onto the paper.  As it dries, the chalk ink leaves a chalky finish (go figure, huh?) that is super cool.  Take a close look at the center area, you can see it there…

(c) Hero Arts.  Supplies: Hero Arts stamps (scalloped flower center and flourish background); Hero Arts white embossing powder; Versamark Ink; Soft Lilac Shadow Ink (for background); Hero Arts notecard, gems, flowers; May Arts ribbon; Neenah white cardstock; Hero Hues purple chalk ink.

THIS is the chalk ink that works for this cool look. It is also great for fool-proof stamping, rich colors and tone-on-tone backgrounds…

And the center of the flower has THESE gems and pearls.  60 pieces on here, a mix of colors, sizes, pearls and gems.  What a great way to mix it up…

On another note, a big hug and prayer to all of our military families.  God bless you all for your sacrifices.  You are appreciated and thought of often.

OK… off to check email.  Night!  (Oh, and an update on the Cards for Kids will be coming soon…)
