Thankful

Hey, there.

Was thinking about some friends that I am feeling especially thankful for these days.  And it reminded me of this card I did last spring.  After making it, I realized that it made more sense to just have two owls, instead of three, so I took the left one off. :)  I used a Bazzill scallop edge piece that was a little smaller than 6×12, folded it and put it on a 7×7 brown sewn piece.  Just wanted to do something different.

Supplies: Hero Arts stamps and inks, My Minds Eye patterned paper, Bazzill cardstock, colored pencils.

Let's see… what's next…

People ask a lot about how I find time to do anything.  First, the answer is – I don't.  I really don't find time for everything and fall short at a lot.  But at the end of the day, if I can put down my head on my pillow and be happy for my family, then I am good.  (Which means that my house is never perfect, etc.)  But!  I do look for timesaving measures.

One BIG one I found is Google Reader.  Google Reader has been a HUGE for me and I highly recommend it to anyone who checks out a lot of blogs.  You can see all your blogs in one place.  It shares any new additions.  Fabulous.  HERE is a video from Google explaining in a simple way.  And THIS video shows more details, step-by-step.  I can't recommend it enough.

Other things worth sharing:

  • THIS is one of my favorite blogs lately.  Mariana is so very talented.  Be sure to check it out.
  • I am so excited for my dear friend Lisa Russo and her success.  Check it out HERE.
  • Thrilled that 2Peas has Studio Calico papers HERE.
  • There is a giveaway of one of my favorite stamp sets HERE.
  • Fantastic money tree idea HERE.

Off to catch up on Dexter.  Anyone else addicted?  Will be back with another giveaway.  Reorganizing my scrap studio… again. 🙂

  2. Gorgeous card and will have to check out that hint on blog reading, it’s taking me all day sometimes, I lose track of time!

  3. Have fun with the organizing… sometimes I think I enjoy that more than card making??? Surely not! Dexter? My son really likes it, it creeps me out.
I love the card, some of my favorite colors on there.

  4. Jennifer: Thank you so much for recommending my blog!!! I am very excited about your comments, I really appreciate them!!!! You just gave me a HUGE smile!

  5. Reorganizing your scrap studio? By the photos you have posted, I would say you have the most organized, most impressive stamp studio I have ever seen (live or in blogland). Although, I am sure that you spruced it up for the photos and when it’s actually in use, it’s not quite so organized and tidy :). I am thankful for friends also. They make such a difference in my life.

  6. Hi Jennifer.

  8. ohhh, I love the owl card! so cute 🙂 I’m not addicted to Dexter, which we DO get over here in Japan, with cable–we’re just a season or 2 behind lol. But what I am addicted to that they are showing here now is So You Think You Can Dance 🙂 Thanks for the links! I always love finding new inspiration 🙂

  9. Jennifer your card is so cute and the coloring is wonderful. I love it when you update us on the goings on. TFS!!! : )

  10. beautiful card…love how you changed up the “traditional” card like this. thanks for sharing the links at the end of your posts. i’ve found great information and inspiration because of it 🙂

  11. Adorable card Jennifer!!! And I liked the links. I am still working my way through the past seasons of Dexter. Maybe by the time I finish, I’ll be close to this season coming out on DVD!

  12. It’s funny you should mention google reader…no matter how many times I try it says “OOOpS can’t find a feed” on your blog!

  13. I utilize Blogger Dashboard to keep all my blogs neat and tidy. Wonderful to check in at one spot and read to my hearts content. My house is always a disaster and I’m always 3 steps behind…sigh…Have a wonderful holiday with your family!

  14. Hi Jennifer!

First, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your owls! I also love the way you shade everything with your color pencils, the images always look so beautiful. I’ve watched some of your tutorial videos, but are there some basic rules you go by when you use color pencils? Maybe you have a tutorial you can point me to? Thanks for any tips you can send my way! 🙂

  15. that brown and green combination on your cute owl card is really sharp 🙂

i’ve found recently that i can make time for the stuff that i really love, too. it’s been really refreshing, and I’ve been able to do a lot of scrapbooking! it helps, too, that i have a wonderful and understanding husband!

  16. i’ve totally got to check-out Google Reader. anything to find a little more time.

i’m getting such a kick out of the fact that owls and butterflies are back. as a child of the 70’s, i remember them the first time around…my best friend’s mom had a complete WALL of owls in the family room. sadly, most of those owls are long gone. but let’s be honest…the colors are WAY better this time around!

thanks for all your good ideas…

Oh the money tree is so cute, and what a great idea too. I know just what you are talking about. We all have a hard time doing it ALL. You have a good outlook, do what you can when you can. It will be there tomorrow:)

I love the card you made, your colors work so well together. I have the background stamp. In need to use it more, as this is a great stamp.

  18. Such a sweet card – and such a great time of the year to start really appreciating everything we’re grateful for! Thanks for sharing both your creativity and your inspirational finds with us! Blessings to you!

  19. I think we all fall short in some area of our lives. I love Google Reader too! Another tip I have that makes things much easier for me is planning meals a week in advance. That way I know exactly what I need to buy at the store and don’t have to spend 30 minutes every evening trying to decide what to make for supper! It’s a big time saver!

  20. Beautiful card Jen, I an so glad I am not alone in never having enough time to do everything! Thanks too for the link, the money tree would be great as a charity money raising idea!

  21. My house is FAR from perfectly clean. It borders on disaster most of the time.
But like you, time with family is more important than a dust free home. I wish I was more organized, but I’m not.
Fun card. I like the colors.
Oh – and when you finish in your studio – wanna come do my room? hehe
