Another great one from Kay…

Hello!  I still have two more days to share with you of Kay's takeover.  I am quite down today as Kay has left for a few weeks of band camp before school starts… which means summer is over.  Boo.  I hate hate hate when she is gone.  But, thankfully, we text lots.  I adore that girl.  Here she is…

Happy Hug Day! It’s Kay, on day 6 of the non-hostile takeover and I have a story! Every year I declare it National Hug Day – you’d be surprised how many hugs you can get – and this year I made a card! The point of National Hug Day is to spread love and peace in the world and I encourage everybody to celebrate it every year. The card has lots of Hero products too since I’m making up for the non-Hero pink card from the other day. 🙂 This card is made of a Hero Arts note card, gems, “sending HUGS” stamp (which is what ties into Hug Day!) and an awesome Hero Arts flower stamp that was colored with Copics markers.

Supplies: Hero Arts flower stamp, Hero Arts “sending HUGS” stamp, Black Memories Ink, Red Ribbon, Kraft Hero Arts Notecard, Copics Markers, Hero Arts gems

In case you’ve never used Copics markers before, they might be the best markers on the face of the planet. They’re illustrator markers that are really expensive and they blend beautifully, with no lines. Mum bought a bunch of them and hasn’t really used them much, so I decided that it was time to break them out.  These are the colors that I used: YR07, YR09, Y15, Y17, R27, R89, B29, BG45, BG13, RV17, RV04, YG67, YG03, BV08, BV11. I love them, needless to say. It’s amazing to think that real book illustrators use these markers.

So, Happy Hug Day everybody!

Until later, may you be as happy as my daddy at the flying field!
Kay

Just a quick PS from Jennifer: Big hugs to my dear Lucy – happy wedding day!  And, yes, I did miss the Bachelorette.  Boo.  And it isn't online anymore.  Argh…

  1. Kay here’s a big {{{{{{{{{{HUG))))))))))))
for you. Thank you so much for sharing yourself with us this week, it has been a true JOY.
    Have fun at band camp.

  2. Hi Kay!!!
I sure love your non-hostile take over! It is so much fun to see another sweet, adorable, talented young gal ‘out there’ who loves to create and spread happiness!! My sweet daughter is following in your footsteps.. She is 10 and watches all of Jennifer’s videos and makes things…she does so more than me!!!

I had to chuckle. Sami helps herself to all my crafty goodies! I’ll bet Jennifer is just like me when it comes to this area of sharing… The more the merrier – at least someone is using it:)

    Gorgeous work!!!!

And so sorry summer is coming to an end… Wah!!!!

  3. Another cute card! I have been dying to get my hands on some of those cool copic markers but none of the store around here carry them but I will keep looking.

  4. Kay, loved your reading your posts all week and loved seeing your work! Your mum must be so proud! I hope your work will be saved in the archives. My niece is on vacation and won’t be back until next week. I know she’ll love some of the things you’ve made and will want to try to make some of them herself. Have fun at band camp. You will be missed while you’re gone.

  5. I loved this posted! And do I really have to tell you how much I am loving this card? nah, I think you know 🙂
Don’t own any of the Copics markers…but I do have lots and lots of the Prism (I think thats the right name) ones. Hubby used these when he was into super heroes drawings and stuff.
Oh, I wanted to let you know that I did that versamark w chalk technique from the other day and it worked so nice, loved it, HOWEVER the card I made was a mess…a big mess! I have no idea how you and your Mum do it. I need some *serious* help!

Anyway, I am preparing myself (mentally…meditating and all) to try the alcohol ink technique from your Mum’s videos. You know I *need* everyone’s prayers on this, lol!s

Have lots of fun at camp.
Sending lots and lots of Hugs!

  8. Beautiful card, Kay!!! I love it! Great job with the copic markers. I’m no good with markers (of any kind) and so I’m terrified to try them.

  10. Hey, Kay, have fun at camp and thanks for your great work this week. I have some copics too and use them when I have good cardstock that doesn’t soak in the color. You did a fab job all week!

    Hugs!!

  12. Jennifer and Kay

My daughter was a student in your last class. She loved your heart card video on chalking. Thanks for sharing it with us. We have loved reading your take over. Have a great time at band camp.

Jennifer, glad you can text Kay. Wonderful way to keep in touch while she is away. Sunner is not over for us until Sept. 8th. We are starting late this year. Glad you are home safe and sound.

  13. Kay, your idea of Hug Day is a good one. Everybody can use a hug.

I like your card. The bright colored flower looks great on the kraft cs. I like the bling too.

I think I just might have to have the sentiment stamp.

Hope you have a great time at band camp.

  14. Hey girls,
I am absolutely loving everything that BOTH of you do!
It was so nice to have Kay fill in for you, Jennifer. Without her, we would’ve all had withdrawl symptoms because there would not have been any posts for a whole week, so thank you, KAY!

Jennifer, I know how you feel about kids not being home. Every year I absolutely dread when school starts again! I love having my two boys home all summer, and those few months go by way too fast! My oldest is going to college this year! So I am even more sad! Thank goodness we have this wonderful hobby to help us think about other things! And thanks to both of you, this hobby has become even more fun and challenging for me!

    Barb 🙂
