WCMD Week: Day 4 of Giveaways and VIDEO!

Welcome to Day 3 of my World Card Making Day Week.  Today I have some enabling, a video, card and a giveaway.

First, the winner of Day 2's giveaway is Jenny from Louisville, KY.  I will email you!

Now, some enabling.  (Which – for those who are new around here – means that I tell you about some great stuff that I think you should try. 🙂

1. Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Don't tell him I said this – it will just go to his head 😉 – but his inks are just delicious.  I love how you stamp with them and as they dry, they look so soft and luscious.  I am not a big distresser, so I use them for straight up stamping.  Love them and use them a lot.  (Colin even loves "Mr. Tim's Inks.") May I recommend my faves?  Broken China, Fired Brick and Shabby Shutters.  Must-haves for sure.  Seriously – you need them even if you aren't a distresser.  (And, Tim is a good guy – I like to support the good guys. 🙂

2. Ink Applicator
I have enabled this one before, but it is worth a second enabling.  Get it.  And the refills.  A great tool… be sure to get the FOAM applicator like THIS.  I have a video showing something fun to do with it HERE.

3. Kraft Notecards
These are a must-have.  I use these notecards all the time.  They are the perfect kraft, with matching envelopes.  They work with any and all styles – I love them!

Now, here is a video showing how to make the following card using these goodies I love so much.  I must note that this card was 100% lifted and inspired by Shari Carroll – my all-time favorite stamper.  She said it would be ok for me to share this here – thank you, Shari!  Smooch.  You can see her amazing card HERE

Here is the video and card… (For high quality, double click on the video so you can go watch it over on YouTube.  Then click "watch in high quality" right under the video.  It makes a big difference!)

Now… time for the giveaway!  Today I have four of my favorite Distress Inks.  For a chance to win them, just leave a comment on this post by Thursday at 11:59pmEDT telling me something sweet/funny/kind that someone said to you today to make you smile.  I will post the winner on Friday. Here are the inks you would win…

  1. Hi Jennifer,
When I got to work I was upset (family tradgedy in February that still gets to me daily), and I was talking to a girlfriend at work, and asked about her sister (in the middle of her own tradgedy), and she said: I knew you would ask about her before you told me what was wrong, because you are so sweet.
That was a good compliment. It made me feel good.
    Have a Blessed Day.

  2. My best friend called to tell me she was praying for me (sweet)… outloud while applying her makeup (OK… a little funny)!! What a good friend! See I’ve already won!

  3. I keep a little girl here in my home a few days a week. She is two and a half years old. Yesterday, when she left with her mommy, she turned around and said “Kristin, you my best friend” 🙂 That definately put a smile on my face!

  4. My daughter called me today from college. She had her first exam as a freshman and got a 91. She was so excited. She complained the night before about not knowing how to study! It really boosted her confidence today!

  5. What made me smile today. When i dropped off my son at Kinder today, I got 2 (two) goodbye kisses today instead of the usual 1. WOW, that would make any Mom happy!

  6. This morning by bird sang to me, even though the sun wasn’t up and she normally hates to be uncovered. Also I was greeted by my van pool when I got on this morning. I really like that everyone is so friendly.

  7. One of my preschool students gave me a picture of the letter “V” she had colored it. “This is for you!” she said. Then she added, “V is for vibrate!” I felt loved AND I got a good chuckle!

  8. I’m loving these posts … full of inspiration!

Lets see … my teacher’s son told me he was a sweet boy! That made me smile.

Wonderful video!!! Love this classic design. I used this over and over. Of course differnt stamps and dies too.

Love Tim’s ink too. I tend to not alter things also. I do not have these colors. I have been wanted to buy “broken china” for a couple months now.

The nice things my DD said to me today is.
“Mommy you are not a mean mommy”. Age 3.
It made me feel good to hear these tender words.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  10. I was changing out of jeans and into shorts this afternoon, because it was really hot. My 3 year old son saw me standing there in my underwear and said “mom, why you poop your pants?!” because when HE has to change clothes mid-day, it is because HE has pooped his pants. So of course, I must have as well. Ah, to think as innocently as them!

  11. I had so much fun today with my co-workers. I had a great day, even though I had to start really early (7 am) and I’m so NOT a morning person…

World Card Making Day… I had never heard of it before but I love the idea!

Bye now, from the Netherlands, Martine

  12. A little girl in my son’s 1st grade class said “Hey! I remember you!” with a big smile…. that’s probably because I volunteered yesterday, too~it made me smile!
    Love Tim’s stuff~ALL OF IT!

  13. Ha ha – this is pretty funny because I got my hair cut the other day. If you check out my blog itsallgreektometoo.blogspot.com you can see the before and after pics. Anyway, I went into work yesterday and my boss didn’t say anything. Well today when I went in and said good morning he did a double take and then says Wow Janine – your new haircut looks nice! I just had to laugh because he didn’t notice the first day – but I have to say that it made me feel good that he noticed at all. He is an attorney and is usually concentrating on the stuff in front of him rather than concentrating on any of us. LOL.

  14. My son told me I rock today which made me stop and smile. Truth be told I think he is the one who “rocks!”

  15. I was told today by out postman (actually lady) that I look great and she can tell that I lost weight. I said thank you and thought it was sweet of her to say that to me 🙂

  16. I was having a conversation with my almost-5 year old and told him that teachers are so important because they do so much for him and my son said, “no, you are the most important, mom”. Sniff. I love that kid!
Thanks for the chance to win – I love Tim’s products:)

  17. Something that always makes me smile is my daughter (6) saying: I love you soo much mommy. To the moon and back!”. And my little one (4 m) saying something like “uuuaahh” and smiling at me :-).
    Thanks for the give away!

  18. Hi. The thing that made me smile today was when my wonderful hubby made me breakfast. It was so YUMMY! Afterward he gave me a big hug and told me that he loved me.

  19. I was having a bad day and someone sent me this quote and it brought some perspective and helped me feel better about my situation.

Every day, passion speaks to us through our feelings. that’s why when you allow yourself to become anesthetized by what others think, you literally block yourself from living the life you were called to live. I promise you that if you make a choice that doesn’t please your mate, your friends, your mother, or whoever, the world will not fall apart — the people who truly love you want you to love yourself. and as you become clearer about who you really are, you’ll be better able to decide what is best for you — the first time around.

  20. Today my 4 year old son made me smile, eventhough I should have been a little angry. Monday we thought we lost his coat and shoes. We looked all over and couldn’t find it. Even went to our neighboors to ask if they had seen it. My son didn’t now where it went to and kept telling me that his shoes had walked away. Today I shopped for a new jacked and shoes with my son and when we came home he said that he was going to hide his coat. To my surprise I found the lots items in his hiding place (under the kitchencloset).

  21. Love Tim’s distress inks too. But I gotta admit that the first one I owned sat inside my closet for almost a year before I broke the seal since 1) I got it in one of the kit clubs I subscribed so I didn’t really pay attention to it; and 2) I wasn’t much of a fan of the whole distressed/vintage style back then. But after signing up for a class that made using those ink pads a “must have” I have never looked back since then! I do have to get the foam applicator though–that looks like a tool I will find lots of use for now that I ink everything I can possibly ink!

  22. I had just made myself a cappuccino and put it in the table when the doorbell rang. After a few minutes I came back into the room. My little girl(4 years old) says mammy I love you 10 fingers and gives me I big kiss and goes out to play with her friends. Now I know why, I said down to drink my cappuccino and that is missing. She left with a big white milky mustache.

Hopefully all is written in good English

  23. My day started off with a phone call from our soon to be 2 year old grandson. He said “GaGa” for the first time – and my DH beamed from ear to ear. He has been saying “nana” for a few weeks, but today I got to see my DH smile as big as could be when his name was called.:)

  24. The little boy I take care of had to run back into the kitchen right before leaving for school just to give me a kiss goodbye. It made my day!

  25. He doesnt talk yet, but the baby I nanny for, Noah, makes me smile on a daily basis. Every morning when I walk in he starts squealing with excitement. Im so lucky to have a job where I receive a greeting like that everyday!

  26. My husband sent me a text msg saying he loves me. That put a big smile on my face!
    Thanks for a great giveway!

  27. I work at an elem. school..I am a lunch lady.
this little blonde hair, blue eyed, freckle faced boy said to me….”you make the bestest JELLO….” that made me smile..and I said Glad you like it so much. I just love kids…..

  28. well, life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately with a new baby but it’s been so good too. my sister and niece were visiting the past few days and this morning i took my dd and niece to the park. on the way there my niece (who is 2) looked up at me and said, “auntie heather, hold my hand?” most definitely! and then my dd looked at my niece and said, “nayna (what she calls herself) hold meadow’s hand?” it was so precious. i love that complete trust that kids have with certain people – it is such a beautiful thing.

  29. I sent out some pictures to family and friends and included a few where I was actually in the picture too for a change. My best friend since seventh grade emailed me back and said I looked so good, like I hadnt changed since high school! Love her!

  30. my 9 month old was doing HUGE splashes in the bath yesterday and splashing himself in the face by accident, then getting startled, then splashing himself in the face again- it just made me smile to see him growing and discovering.

  31. Getting an email from my new son-in-law thanking DH and me for helping them get ready for a big party last weekend – and helping them clean up afterwards. It was a very nice note from our new “son”! 🙂

  32. Well it wasn’t actually *said* to me today, but it was an action. I went out to eat with my friend and her 15-month old daughter. I was holding her daughter (while she was sitting on the counter) while paying for our meal and she kept hugging me and sticking her face in my neck. It was hilarious and sweet at the same time 🙂 That definitely made me smile!

  33. I locked myself out of the house with my two kids and two kids I babysit. Luckily I had my cell phone. It took two of my friends to take all of us to my friends house (too many kids to fit in one car!). My friend feed me lunch and let me borrow her car to take my babysitting charge to preschool. There was at least 3 wonderful things my friend did for me today. I hope you have a great day too!
I enjoyed watching your video especially the resist technique. Thanks

  34. my 3 yr. old daughter just told her 4 mo. old brother…”you’re my best friend forever, yes you are”…and she said it in the way that adults often to talk to babies, right in their face and all cheery…know what i mean? (i think she’s been watching me a little too much lately.)
anyways…this wasn’t said to me, but it definitely made me smile. 🙂

    btw…awesome giveaway Jennifer!

  35. I just got my haircut the other day and everytime my 3 y/o sees me she says “Mommy, that’s a butiful haircut. You look so pretty.” I have gotten the comment at least 20 times since I got it cut and I smile everytime.

  36. My 17 year son makes me laugh very day. I threaten to punish him for something he did and he thought it was a good idea that I should just do it.

  37. I just got a text (after a long day back after being sick from school yesterday and coming into a classroom that looked like a tornado hit it) from my friend/colleague that said, “I love you for all that you do!” For some reason, I get myself in charge of things at school. Ordering classroom t-shirts for the whole school, ESS coordinator, team leader, teacher mentor, etc….I felt a little overwhelmed today and her text brought a huge smile on my face.

  38. I just love Tim Holtz’s distressing inks. They are the best!

What made my heart sing today—My 15yo daughter gave me a hug and said she loves me. 🙂

  39. It made me happy today just to see the smile on my 1yr old grandnephews face when he saw me walk in the door and how his arms just stretched right out to me!
