Stamp Your Story Blog Hop + Video + Giveaway

Hello!

I am *so* very excited to be a part of the Hero Arts Stamp Your Story Blog Hop! I just love new stamps.

This new collection is very on trend and is perfect for stamping, cardmaking, and journaling. Faux painting… maps… geometric shapes… lots of good stuff. There are 43 new stamps and 27 new tools and accessories, such as stencils, dies, mint and peach ink colors, a notecard pad, and ink in a NEW Dauber format. Lots of good stuff! (Products are currently being shipped to stores around the world and will be in the Hero Arts Online Store on 5/15. Simon Says Stamps has many of the products already in HERE.)

I picked a few of the new clear sets to play with…

I am giddy about the many faux-painting stamps. It gives you the look of hand painting without the effort. Just stamp!

It is fun to be able to piece together your own greeting. Works great for many projects.

And a bit of shine is always nice, right? Really loving my the Wink of Stella brush/markers. It goes one smoothly and easily and you can get detailed areas or bigger ones. A great must-have! (I used clear but it comes in silver, gold, black and colors.)

I already shot a few more videos with other new stamps. Stay tuned!

By the way, there is a Stamp Your Story contest going on over on the Hero Arts Blog. For more information, head HERE.

I am the last stop on the blog hop! To start over, head to the Hero Arts Blog HERE. And there are giveaways! Just leave a comment here and at all the other blog hop stops for your chance to win some new goodies!

Hero Arts has a ton of new stamps as part of their Stamp Your Story release. These stamps are very unique and so very on trend…

To see all the new stamps, head HERE. I’d love to hear what your favorites are! Mine? I LOVE the painted stamps. That way I can stamp brush strokes, paint splatter, “painted” circles, etc… and make it look like I painted them by hand. Sweet! (Remember: cheating is acceptable in crafting.) And so many of these stamps are perfect for techniques.

I will be sharing a lot with these over the next few weeks. And Friday? We have a blog hop celebrating them!

Again, I would love to hear what your favorites are. Share below!

Video: Dimensional Apple Teacher Tag

I love spoiling teachers. Big time. I truly believe they are the hardest working folks out there.

So today I have a fun dimensional teacher tag. Heck – you could stick this fun 3D apple on just about anything. I used products from My Favorite Thingsand have a discount code for them below!

So this project uses the great 100lb cardstock from My Favorite Things. I am really pleased with this paper and will be using it a lot. For all of you looking for a new source of cardstock to love, I would give it a try. You can get a sampler pack HERE

I also used the MFT felt. I really like felt, but have only found a couple of good quality felts in good colors. This is my favorite – hands down. I used the Steel Grey in the video. (It is heathered but most of them are not.) This felt is perfect for die cutting…

And if you like the idea of a product line that all matches, MFT has that. The inks match the felt… which matches the cardstock… which matches the buttons and ribbon. Delightful. Oh, and they always seem to be in stock. Woot! (They only sell most of their supplies like this direct.)

As I mentioned yesterday, the sweet folks at My Favorite Things are offering a 15% discount for my readers! Just enter “JMFRIENDS” when you are checking out. Discount is good 4/26 – 4/29. (When checking out, click “Use Coupon Code” under the “What would you like to do next?” prompt in the Shopping Cart.)

Video + My Favorite Things Discount Code + Giveaway!

Today I am happy to have a fun discount code for you to enjoy with my friends over at My Favorite Things… and a giveaway! (See below.) Along with their fabulous stamps and dies, I have found the MFT cardstock, felt and inks to be outstanding. Check out this video…

This My Favorite Things kraft paper really is delicious…

Layering stamped images really is a great way to give the look of dimension without the bulk. And that flower stamp set? Gorgeous.

Oh, and in the video I talked about three kraft papers. The lightest in color is Neenah Desert Storm Kraft and the darkest is the Hero Arts Kraft. The one I used here – the My Favorite Things Kraft – is right in the middle… the perfect middle ground shade. It is also heavier in weight (100 lb). LOVE. All three are must-haves…

(See below for supplies.)

I get A LOT of questions about cardstock. I know many people are looking for that “perfect cardstock” for cardmaking. The MFT cardstock line is some of the best I have seen. (You have seen me use the Steel Grey many times… I will be using the other colors now, too! Very impressed. Wish I would have tried them sooner.) I love that their cardstock is heavyweight but also scores and stamps nicely.

So sweet Kim – the owner of My Favorite Things – is offering a 15% discount for my readers! Just enter “JMFRIENDS” when you are checking out. Discount is good 4/26 – 4/29. (When checking out, click “Use Coupon Code” under the “What would you like to do next?” prompt in the Shopping Cart.)

(Oh, and yes. I like these products on my own… wasn’t asked to say all this. :)

I have a fun giveaway for you! Just leave a comment here by 4/29/13 at 11:59pmEST for your chance to win the My Favorite Things Sweet Roses Stamp Set I used here. Good luck! It’s a good one.

Hello Sunshine

Sometimes you just have to play.

Like when I got this month’s Studio Calico kit with an exclusive stamp set from Lawn Fawn. It has the cutest heart and rays… making me want to play right away…

And that “hello sunshine” piece? It is wood veneer from the kit, just colored black. All the papers are from the kit, too…

Quick and easy to put together. That is the joy of kits! (For more information on SC kits, go HERE.)

Is it sunny where you are? Hope so…

More Proof that Distress Inks Are Amazing

Hey there, stampers.

You have heard me say many times that I think Distress Inks are amazing. Well, here is just one more bit of proof.

Creating this flower? Easy with Distress Inks

I simply inked the awesome Hero Arts flower stamp with my favorite Distress Ink colors (Peacock Feather and Mowed Lawn) and stamped it on watercolor paper. (I did not mist the stamp first.) The image isn’t the greatest at this point, but never fear! Just use water and a brush over it. The water reacts with the ink and it moves – instantly acting like a watercolor (but so much better). It blends so easily and perfectly. I then pressed some Faded Jeans and Peeled Paint Distress Inks onto my craft sheet and used a wet brush to pick up color and add a bit of depth to the image. After letting it dry, I used markers to add dots to the center of the flower…

It looks hand painted! But I couldn’t paint something that good to save my life. LOL. Thank goodness for Distress Inks and awesome stamps! (Maybe I should do a video showing this technique? Hmmm…)

For more info, head over to the Hero Arts Blog. Oh, and they are giving lots of peeks at the new stamps coming out soon. Be sure to check them out.

Video: Distress Marker Video + Giveaway

Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp May 2013 Card Kit Blog Hop!

Today I have a video for you showing how I used the goodies in this kit along with Tim Holtz Distress Markers for some soft watercoloring…

Distress Markers are so incredibly easy to watercolor with. SO easy. And by ironing off the embossing when you are done, you end up with a “how-did-she-do-that” look. These stamp images? Perfect for this technique. (For any coloring, for that matter!)

It is also simple to do a soft glow of a color around a stamp image with Distress Markers. For this card I used the Tumbled Glass blue marker.

Here is the stamp set in the kit – so classy – and a peek at the May kit. The kits are very reasonable – only $19.95 for subscribers. (Heck – a stamp set is only a bit less than that and you get one of those in it plus a lot more.) These kits have been selling out so you may want to subscribe to ensure you get one each month. (You can also get the stamp set separate, but it is definitely a better deal to get the kit! Oh, and I am dying to cross stitch on those grid images.)

Next be sure to head over to the next blog on the hop – the home of my fabulous friend Kristina Werner. I am sure she will rock this card kit. (If you want to start at the beginning, you can head to the Simon Says Stamp blog.)

Talk about AWESOME giveaways. Simon Says Stamp is giving away a $50 gift certificate on each of the blogs on this hop! (That’s $450 in total!) So leave a comment here by 11:59pmEST on 4/25/13 for your chance to win a $50 shopping spree. Good luck!
