Stamping + Patterned Paper

I am on a mission.

A mission to use more of the 6×6 paper pads that I seem to collect. So today I have a card showing one simple way a stamper can use patterned papers…

Whenever I need a happy card for one of my kids, I seem to often reach for Paper Smooches. This new stamp set with the elephant just made me giddy! I stamped all the pieces on BasicGrey papers and then cut them out. Simple. Easy. Fun.

Oh – and a little trick. The stamp set had solid balloons and I wanted an outline. So I stamped the balloons in a light ink on the BACK of the patterned paper. I then cut them out and flipped them over. I used a black pen to draw around the edge. Voila! I have outline balloons on patterned paper. I also used a black pen to draw in the strings.

I also wanted the striped “floor” to have the same outline look so I drew a black line along it. This made a big difference in giving the card a completed look.

And that’s it!

Video: Background Stamp Ideas + CASE Study Challenge + Discount Code!

Hey! I have lots to share today. But the good news? I also have a 15% off discount code for you! Keep reading…

This is my last week as this month’s guest muse over at the CASE Study Challenge Blog. Each month they take a few older cards from a guest muse and use them as inspiration for new ideas. (Here are my previous cards: Card 1, Card 2 and Card 3.) A great site – check it out.

Today’s inspiration is from THIS card I created awhile back…

I have two cards – both showing fun ways to get more from your background stamps.

I adore the new Hero Arts Tiny Stars Background that I used on these cards. Good for so many occasions! And the Small Scallops Background is great for the fun strips.

Perfect Pearls gives some great shine to the new Hero Arts Silver Shadow Ink background. And the Typewriter Alphabet Letters are great for forming a greeting when you could use some round elements to break up a card design with lots of straight lines.

I am really loving designs with stamped strips. (Sorry I have been doing them a lot lately.) It is a great way to use any products you may have.

That Vertical Arrow Background is awesome. Simply awesome. I will be using it. A lot.

And the “oh what fun” image is from a holiday stamp set. Love using holidays stamps on non-holiday cards…

For all the supplies used for these cards, please just scroll down and check out the thumbnails.

I also wanted to let you know that the awesome folks over at Simon Says Stamp have provided my readers with a 15% off discount on all Hero Arts goodies! (Including all the NEW products… such as the ones I used today.) Just use the code “HAHOL13″ by August 31 while shopping at Simon Says Stamp. You can find all the new Hero Arts products HERE. There are lots of new things – inks, stencils, holiday stamps and more. Here is a peek:

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon!

Awesome

Just popping in with a quick share. I am sitting on a beach with some girlfriends this weekend. Ah! Time away!

This card is from awhile ago, but wanted to share here because I think it is good for guys, gals and kids…

Simple card with just a bit of masking around that awesome “AWESOME” greeting. For the balloons, I used the sketchy circle from the Notebook Essentials set. (This set is great for SO many things!)

I did all the coloring with my good ol’ Wink of Stella pens. The colors are such fun. Oh! And the silver dots are from my Silver Wink of Stella. Easy…

Hope you have a great day.

(Oh, and I will be back winners next week. Gotta get back to the beach…)

Paper Crafts Go-To Gals Blog Hop

[NOTE: This is my second post today. Be sure to scroll down to the next post, also, to see Day 3 of my Hero Arts and Paper Smooches Challenge with Kim Hughes. Thanks!]

Hey, there. Welcome to a fun blog hop with the Paper Crafts Go-To Gals. Today we will all be using stamps from the Hero Arts + BasicGrey Nordic holiday line. And… we will all be giving a set away along with a copy of the new Holiday Cards and More. Yay!

I decided to use the snowman from the Smiling Snowman set. Isn’t he the cutest little guy?

But I kinda broke the rules after that and added a bunch of other stamping, too. The background is my new favorite stamp from Hero Arts + BasicGrey. And the clouds and woodgrain circle are stamps from Hero Arts + Studio Calico. They just worked so well with the snowman! (See the bottom of this post for all the supplies.)

Oh! And see those cute clouds? They are stamps from THIS set that perfectly fit the Fiskars cloud punches HERE and HERE. Heavenly.

Be sure to go see what the other Go-To Gals created – go HERE.

Also, be sure to check out the new Holiday Cards and More. This guy is packed full of great ideas – you will love it…

So – get this – I get to give away both a copy of Holiday Cards and More and the Hero Arts + BasicGrey Smiling Snowman set! Just leave a comment here by Friday night for your chance to win. And be sure to check out the other Go-To Gals posts for more chances to win, too!

Good luck!

Basic Grey

Hello there.

I was honored to be featured on the new BasicGrey blog earlier this week. (And so happy they have a blog now!) I did three cards for them using the Hero Arts + BasicGrey stamps. For complete and detailed instructions, go HERE.

First up is one that has me looking forward to the holidays…

Of course, lots of Perfect Pearl + water on Distress Inks for the flower. And I love the look for Hero Arts Mixed Accents (matching pearls and gems) piled together…

Next up is another Distress Ink and Perfect Pearls + water mix using my favorite new flower stamps. Adore it…

Shine, shine, shine…

By the way, the BEST BEST BEST watercolor paper is now available HERE. This is my favorite – I use it for everything.

And the last one, which looks a whole heck of a lot better in real life. The photo just killed it…

That’s an acetate window there…

Ahhh… I love me some BasicGrey. And I love the people who work there… Kelly Goree, Kristina Werner and now Melanie Bauer. Such a great group.

Off to work on stuff for Inspiration Showcase! See you soon.

We have a few giveaway winners. The winner of the True Scrap class spot is Janet (tomjan)and the winner of the Simon Says Stamp gift certificate is Tere. I emailed you both.
