Masked and Repeated Stamping + Giveaway

Hello! Today I share a fun masked and repeated stamping technique that creates unique backgrounds.

This technique isn’t difficult to do, but is difficult to explain in text. So be sure to watch the video to see it in action!

My first card features a rainbow of stars coming out from the center of the card. I used my MISTI Stamping Tool to stamp a star in the center of my white cardstock… and then masked the star and shifted it 1/2″. I repeated this in a rainbow of colors on both sides of the center star. I finished it off with a double silver heat embossed star. The star and sentiment are from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero November Kit. (More on that below.) I also added silver heat embossing to the edges of the notecard.

My next example uses the same technique, but with a snowflake and mix of blue inks. The center star has Hero Arts Sparkle Embossing Powder over navy ink… and it looks so pretty in real life! I added Studio Katia Silver Foil Crystals and a sentiment strip. Again, all the images are from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero November Kit.

You can also use this technique to create a line of images. Here, I stamped the tree from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero November Kit in various shades of green ink. The main tree also is sparkle heat embossed and decorated with a few Studio Katia Silver Foil Crystals. The sentiment is also from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero November Kit.

I highly recommend using Full Sticky Post It Notes for masking. These post-its have the perfect amount of stick and you can cut through several layers at once to create multiple masks.

My final card shows another variation on this technique… resulting in a staggered look. This is definitely easier with a MISTI Stamping Tool, but you can draw pencil lines to help in doing this with an acrylic block.

The ornament is again from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero November Kit, but the sentiment is from the Hero Arts Happy Hanukkah Stamps. I used a glitter pen and ruler to draw the strings to the ornaments and put a silver bow on the main ornament.
