I got carried away buying holiday window dies so I put them to good use in this video. Be sure to watch the video for lots of tips.

First up, I used the Memory Box Grand Stag Oval Die and Distress Inks to create a inked oval inlay. I added a sentiment from the Avery Elle Merriest Stamp Set and snow with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen. You can’t see it in the photo, but the inked area sparkles, thanks to Shimmer Spritz.

I then used the left over inked piece to quickly create another card. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Silver Star Confetti with Ranger Multi Medium Matte Adhesive for added fun.

This next card features the Memory Box Countryside Circle Die – one that you will see on My Favorite Crafty Things list. (Coming soon!) I inked up the sky… stamped it with the Gina K Music Stamp… and added Lucy’s Cards Star Shine Sequins, Pretty Pink Posh Silver Star Confetti, and Wink of Stella sparkle. That sentiment is from the new Neat and Tangled Scandinavian Prints stamp set. I love that set!

Next up we have my favorite of the cards… featuring the Memory Box Graceful Stag Die. Isn’t that die beautiful? For the soft, blended ink background, I used a great trick. I inked it quickly with Distress Ink and Mini Ink Blending Tool, then wiped it gently with a baby wipe and shimmer. The moisture helps to blend and soften. I embellished the card with Silver Glitter Cardstock pieces die cut from the My Favorite Things Peaceful Greeting and My Favorite Things Starry Circle Dies.

You can also do inlay techniques with specialty cardstocks, patterned papers, etc. This Memory Box Country Road Oval Die works perfectly with Silver Glitter Cardstock. I created a sentiment with the Poppy Stamps Christmas Greetings Stamps and My Favorite Things Peaceful Greeting dies… and added a small red heart.

Another fun way to do a colorful background for die cut inlay is to scribble back and forth with markers. Copic Markers are perfect for this! After coloring, I used the Memory Box Deer Family Circle Die for the inlay window. I embellished the card with Silver Glitter Cardstock die cut stars and dots. The lovely sentiment is from the Altenew Holiday Wishes Stamp Set.

This next card simply makes me smile. That Impression Obsession Sleigh Scene Die is awesome! I plan to make more of this design. Be sure to watch the video for my trick for easily inlaying those tiny pieces. I really find Stick It Adhesive Sheets helpful with inlay! The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Merry Everything Stamps.

CARING HEARTS BLOG HOP

Today we are celebrating the 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive with a fun blog hop! Since it is World Kindness Day, we thought it was the perfect time.

caring-hearts

The purpose of this card drive is to collect handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes around the world. Since 2010 we have been bringing joy to many nursing homes throughout the US, Canada and Australia. And this year, we are branching out to the UK! What better way to share our love of card making than to bring joy to others, right? We hope you’ll join us in supporting the card drive. You can find details on Vera Yate’s blog or on mine.

The next person on the hop is one of my favorite people – Laura Bassen! You can also start at the beginning of the hop HERE.

GIVEAWAY

Simon Says Stamp has generously offering $150 gift card for this hop! For your chance, leave a comment below and on all the hop’s blogs by 11:59pmEST on 11/17/2016 telling me if you will be participating in the card drive. (Winner will be announced on Vera Yate’s blog on 11/18/16.)
