Welcome! Today’s video shows using coordinating die masking to create some happy kids cards.
It seems that almost all stamp companies now have coordinating dies available for the stamp sets they sell. I have some of these coordinating die sets and I really wanted to find a way to get more out of them to make the investment worth it. And today’s technique is a great example!
After stamping the Avery Elle Monsters Stamps on a white die cut banner and coloring them with Copic Markers, I applied masks cut with the coordinating dies. (Boy, does using the dies save time!) I gently applied Distress Ink over the mask with an Ink Blending Tool. The results? A bright, white, thin outline around the monsters… along with a soft a halo of color.
I embossed my cards with the We R Memory Keepers Dotted Next Level Embossing Folder. I tell ya – these embossing folders are incredible. Such dimension!
This card design could work with so many stamps you may have. I think I will be making more! Oh – and for another video showing how to use coordinating dies for masking, head HERE.
These cards are a perfect fit for this week’s Share Handmade Kindness challenge focused on kids. I also plan to send one to Emily and one to Xander for the Card Shower. I hope you are able to participate in helping these kids smiling! (More info HERE.)
Also, be sure to watch my Instagram account. I will be doing another auction soon with 100% off the money going to the Kind Campaign. A wonderfully talented artist (and dear friend of mine and true angel) sent some amazing handmade pieces to auction. I will post it soon! I can’t wait.
I am very excited to bring you TWO great giveaways today. One is from Avery Elle – a $25 gift certificate! When Jamie from AE heard of the Share Handmade Kindness Challenge, she reached out to me and offered the prize. Thank you Jamie!
And I am personally giving three Avery Elle stamp sets to a lucky winner, too!
For your chance, leave a comment below by 11:59pmEST on 11/22/15 telling me if you like to get coordinating dies for your stamps or not. (The winner’s name will be randomly selected, emailed, and posted on my “Winners page” after the giveaway closes. International folks are eligible, too!)
