Video: Stitching with Stamps

Hello!

I have a video today showing how you can use stamps to help with stitching on cards…

I really like the look of fabric and stitching on a card – it adds to the “handmade” feel of our creations. It does take a bit of time. But many coloring techniques do, too… so it is worth it! Also, you can take it with you and work on it while watching a movie or waiting for the kids at practice. Love that.

The Only Have Eyes for You stamp set from the January Simon Says Stamp card kit worked perfectly for this stitching technique. I also used Sticky Back Canvas – a favorite product of mine. The stitching tools are from the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy line. I have had these for ages but just finally got around to using them. I am in love! It just makes everything easier and the case keeps it all together.

I did some raised tone-on-tone stamping for a subtle background. Just stamped the Tiny Hearts Background with Versamark and clear heat embossed. I also made my own felt embellishments by die cutting my favorite felt (from My Favorite Things) with the new Paper Smooches Hearts die. And the fake needle? That is foil cardstock cut with a Memory Box die.

(By the way, you can get 25% off site-wide (excluding brand new December products) at My Favorite Things through 12/31/13 using code SCS25. I recommend cardstock and felt!)

Here is one more color combo…

See you soon. Thanks for stopping by.

Purging: Craft Goodies Need New Home

Hello!

I am finally taking the time to finish the move of everything into my new craft space. And that means I have tons to purge!

In the next few days, I will be creating boxes of:

  • stamps (mostly clear)
  • embellishments
  • 6×6 paper pads
  • embossing folders
  • thick dies
  • wafer thin dies
  • dies + stamp combos
  • ribbon
  • extra cartridges for an Epson 2200 printer

If you are interested in buying a box with any of the above, please leave a comment here and I will randomly pick people to contact with the offer.

Here are the details, please read:

  • The cost will not be much – just shipping + a little extra. (The little extra will be a donation to Operation Write Home.)If you are overseas, shipping will be very expensive (sorry – nothing I can do about it) so please keep that in mind. These boxes will be shipped via Priority Flat Rate Mail. (You can get a rough idea on shipping costs HERE.)
  • Due to the craziness of all this, I will not be able to take photos of the boxes. You just have to trust that there will be good stuff packed in here. :)
  • When you leave a comment, please state which of the above categories you are interested in.
  • I will be contacting folks in the next couple of days. Please respond ASAP or I will have to move on to the next person. (Last time I did this, many people did not respond.)
  • When I contact you, I will let you know a prize and you can say yes or no. No obligation.
  • This is a great way to get some new craft goodies… and to help out a great organization – Operation Write Home.

Thanks!

Video: Iron-Off Embossing with New Hero Arts

Hello! I am back with another card and video using the newest Hero Arts stamps. Remember – Simon Says Stamp has offered a discount code for my readers:

Use the code “JMHA13″ for 15% off ALL Hero Arts products – new and old – over at Simon Says Stamp. You can see the newest products HERE. (Code is valid from 12/17/13 to 12/21/13.)

This was a video I shared over on the Hero Arts Blog, but I wanted to share it here, too.

This technique is so very fun. After white heat embossing the fabulous Leave A Trail stamp on watercolor paper, I added dots of Distress Inks with Sponge Daubers. I then used a waterbrush to give them a watercolor look.

After everything dried, I ironed-off the embossing powder. Love love love the results…

Enjoy and thanks so very much for dropping by.

Video: Stamp Tracing with New Hero Arts… 2 Cards

Hello! As promised, I am back with more cards using new Hero Arts stamps. And remember – Heidi from Simon Says Stamp has offered a discount code for my readers:

Use the code “JMHA13″ for 15% off ALL Hero Arts products – new and old – over at Simon Says Stamp. You can see the newest products HERE. (Code is valid from 12/17/13 to 12/21/13.)

Today I have a video sharing a technique I call “stamp tracing” and two cards…

(Supplies are listed in the thumbnails at the end of this post.)

(Sorry – forgot to warn you these were bright!)

After stamping the new Hero Arts Many Blessings stamp with a very light ink, I traced over the letters with markers – the Wink of Stella Fine Tip Markers. These give great shimmer! But then I decided to emboss with sparkle for even more bling.

Be sure to watch the video above to see how I used a stamp positioner to help with this card…

I also embossed with the sparkle powder on the background using the Hero Arts Tiny Flags background stamp

This next card is a bit less in-your-face. LOL..

After stamping the Hero Arts Thank You With Flourishes stamp with light ink, I again traced over it with my Wink of Stella Fine Tip Markers. This gave me the perfect amount of shimmer. I then traced over the image with my Versamark pen and clear embossed it. I love the results in person…

Hope you give this technique a try! It is fun. Enjoy.
