Prayers and Video Link

Hello.

I am just going to start out with this: Cancer sucks. Especially breast cancer.

Breast cancer hangs over our heads in my family. My grandma had it. Ken’s grandma died from it. My mom and I have had scares. One of my best friends had it. It just sucks.

When I learned that the mom of one of my good friends, Julie, was having surgery to kick breast cancer’s butt, I was crushed. I wished I lived closer so I could help out. But instead, I did what I know best – I started making cards.

So today I have the great honor of filling in Julie’s very big/talented/fabulous shoes for the Ellen Hutson “Hello, Monday” feature. This is a video feature that Julie does on Ellen’s store blog every Monday… and it is incredible. (So incredible that I have an alarm on my calendar to remind me to go there every Monday. You should, too. To see previous Hello, Monday features, just head to the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom blog and search on “Hello, Monday.”)

To see my video featuring three pink encouragement cards, head HERE. Here are some peeks…

And to those of you out there who have breast cancer in your lives in any way – you are in my prayers. My grandma had a mastectomy at a young age and lived to 101. There is hope.

Big hugs all around. Oh – and please don’t forget the power of one simple card. It is an amazing hobby we have, huh?

(And a big thank you to Ellen Hutson – who lost her sweet mom recently – for supporting many artists in this industry. You are loved.)

Stamping with Texture

Hello. Quick share with you for today.

I did this card for the Hero Arts blog, but I love the technique so much I wanted to share it here.

With one simple background stamp and a good white pigment ink, you can easily add the look of texture to any stamped images…

Take a closer look. See that canvas texture? I just first stamped the white cardstock with the Hero Arts Canvas Background with Unicorn White Pigment Ink. I then stamped over it with Hero Arts Shadow Inks (or any dye ink)… resulting in the look of texture. The white pigment ink slightly resists the dye ink on top. Subtle yet awesome.

I also added a pop-up-gift-card-holding-thingy to the inside. I showed this in the Insider class. I love the ideas from this class! (You can see how to make this pop up in class.)

Here is the Canvas Background stamp. Perfect for this technique and backgrounds in general…

That’s it! See you tomorrow with a fun video and discount code!

Video: Concentric Stamping

Hello!

Just popping in to show a fun technique I shared over on the Hero Arts blogconcentric stamping. This technique could be done with any stamp image and always gives fun results.

I am in love with the Scattering Leaves stamp set from Hero. It is perfect for masculine cards! And – of course – I added shimmer with my Wink of Stella pen.

That’s it. Short and sweet. Hope you all are enjoying fall so far. This weather is delightful! How is it where you are?

Kelly Purkey STAMPtember® Blog Hop

Today I am part of a blog hop for Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® event… and we are focusing on the fabulous new products they have from Kelly Purkey!

Well, I liked one of Kelly’s new stamp sets so much that I went overboard and did FIVE cards. Check out my video that shows how to multi-ink greetings and also how to create your own enamel dots…

For these cards, I used the new Kelly Purkey I Like You stamp set. This one has quickly moved to my “all-time favorite stamps” list.

I really enjoy playful greetings and they are hard to find. This set knocks it outta the park! I used a variety of the fabulous Memento Luxe Inks for the fun color combo.

I created the star border with the new Howdy Partner set. And the notebook die? That is the Paper Smooches Notebook die

Next up is a great greeting from the same I Like You set. I liked the bit about “magic” on it, so I decided to team it up with the Paper Smooches Bam Bubble die.

I also created my own enamel dots using the Viva Paper Pens. Boy does this stuff make great accents!

For card #3, I again used the I Like You set and Luxe Inks. I also used the SSS Horizontal Bubble die and Hero Arts Vertical Arrows background.

One of the things I like about Luxe Inks is that they are pigment inks, so they are slow to dry. This gives you the option of adding clear embossing powder to heat emboss for a textured tone-on-tone background…

This next one uses the fun Paper Smooches Free Spirits and Drink Glasses dies. It works perfectly with this I Like You greeting

Gotta love a DIY embellishment. (I created a glass like this a few days ago – head HERE for more information.)

This last card is super simple. But that greeting? It is just so awesome that I had to let it shine. (The fun banner die cut is from the Sketchy Banner Dies.)

Whew! So there you have it – five cards using the Kelly Purkey I Like You stamp set. Can you tell I love it? :) All the supplies are in the thumbnails at the end of this post.

You can find all of the new Kelly Purkey products HERE. There are some good ones… here is a peek…

Next, be sure to head over to my bestie Kathy Racoosin’s blog HERE. Her projects are incredible! (If you want to start at the beginning of the hop, go HERE.)

Enjoy!
