Video + Ink Comparison: Pigment and Dye Inks

Hello! As promised, I am back with a comparison of several newer inks: Hero Arts Shadow Inks, My Favorite Things Dye Inks and Memento Luxe Pigment Inks.

Hero Arts Shadow Inks (which include Soft and Mid-Tone) have been out for awhile, but many new colors have been released lately. They are a must-have dye ink for all stampers. My Favorite Things Dye Inks are a bit newer and have some nice, more intense colors. Memento Luxe Pigment Inks are the newest of the bunch and offer amazing results that I am loving. (NOTE: I only included these newer inks due to lots of questions about them. Please know that I still lovelovelove Distress Inks for techniques – my favorite!)

Instead of typing out a comparison, I did a quick video:

Here is a color comparison. I put all the Hero Arts Shadow, My Favorite Things and Luxe Inks together to make it easy to compare:

(Note: A couple of the newest MFT inks are not included in this comparison as they came out after it was created.)

Many people will ask which my favorite is. Honestly – it is up to you. Hero Arts Shadow Inks work well for all stampers as a basic, no-fail ink. Memento Luxe Inks are pigment and therefore need a bit more care, but give fabulous, solid results and works with embossing and on colored cardstocks. The My Favorite Things Inks are great for getting the results you want immediately. I would recommend trying different ones and deciding which you like best. Me? I will use them all. But this is my job and I need as many tools as possible. :)

People also have asked how the Memento Luxe Ink compares to the regular Memento. I like Luxe better for general stamping – especially of solid images.

By the way, I used my favorite Hero Arts background stamp on these ink swatches – the Leaf and Floral Background. I also used Neenah white cardstock for the tags, along with the Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs and Tags die. (This is an awesome die – cuts through many layers at once!) All these tags go on a ring together with all my other inks.

And a big thanks to my Kay for putting this together. She earned a little extra spending money for college… you all got an ink comparison… and I have my ink swatch ring! :)

Please leave an questions you may have below and I will reply to them here. Enjoy!

About Those Cards You Don’t Love…

So one of the questions I get a lot is what I do with card rejects… cards I don’t love or even like. Honestly? I create a lot of stuff I don’t like. A lot. But I use everything. I figure someone will like it!

This next one is an example. I did some stamping and didn’t like the results – the colors weren’t right, the stamping wasn’t even close to good and nothing was lined up. But I still used it to make this quick card. Do I love it? Not at all. Do I like it? Not really. But will I share it and use it? Yep.

(You can see the redo of this card HERE.)

Here is another I did that I wasn’t happy with. The stamping isn’t lined up well and I just didn’t like the results. But hey! It works…

So there you have it. Those cards I don’t love? I still use them. :) What about you?

See you soon!

Video: Clear and Cling Stamp Storage – Larger Sets

Hi! A few weeks ago, I shared a video HERE on my clear and cling stamp storage. Today, I have a sequel to this video with some tips on how to store bigger stamp sets. (I got a ton of questions!)

Now there are many other ways you can store bigger sets, but these are the options that worked best for me. Hope it helps!

Note: For the bigger piece of transparency to hold my stamps, I cut up my Avery Elle Stamp Pockets. This plastic is safe for stamps and therefore are perfect to touch your stamps and stay happy. Or, I save and use clear pieces that other stamp sets came on.

Here are links for the products featured. Again, for more information, head HERE, HERE or HERE.

COMING SOON

I will be back soon with two helpful posts. One is on my wafer thin die stamp storage and one is on a comparison of the Hero Arts Shadow, Memento Luxe and My Favorite Things Inks. Stay tuned!

New Hero Arts

Did you see the new stamps Hero Arts will be releasing soon?

Oh my. Good stuff. Head over the Hero Arts blog to get a look at their catalog. When the stamps hit the stores, I will share more about my favorites and some card ideas. But in the meantime, here is a peek. (I did the card with the tree of circles.)

There are even fabulous stamps in there designed by Lisa Spangler and Shari Carroll. They are such fun! (I have gotten a few emails asking if I had any stamps in there. Nope – I have never had any desire to have a product line or product with my name on it. Just too much pressure for this girl who just likes to play with paper and stamps. lol! So, no stamps or plans for stamps from me.)

New Shadow Inks? In silver and gold? Yes, please!

Only a few of the new products are in stores now. But they happen to be my favorites – the trees designed by Shari!

Hero Arts Shari’s Tree 1 Stamp (SSS|EH)

Hero Arts Shari’s Tree 2 Stamp (SSS|EH)

Hero Arts Shari’s Tree 3 Stamp (SSS|EH)

I’ll be back soon with more on these stamps. But in the meantime, head HERE to flip their the catalog online. Which stamps are you most excited about? Maybe I will have some to share with a lucky person here…
See you soon.
