More Alphabet Dies + Giveaway!

Hello again.

As promised, I am back with a couple more cards using Memory Box alphabet dies. I can see these getting a lot of use in my future! Yesterday I used the Typewriter set. First up today? The Parker set. I think this is my favorite…

Again, I added some double-sided adhesive to white cardstock. I then die cut the letters. After I removed the other side of the release paper, I added the glitter and burnished it. Voila! I thought this would be fun for Audrey who just started her Freshman year here – new to our district. Yay! Love that shine…

HERE is the Parker die set. Swoon…

And, again I used the Stardust glitter (ultra fine with a vintage silver look) and chevron background stamp with Wet Cement ink. Oh, and those perfect little stars? From THIS border punch.

Next up? The Classic die set. I did this one a bit different. I first covered a rectangle of white cardstock with double-sided tape. I then cut apart the letters of the die itself. (This is really easy to do. There is only a thin piece of metal connecting each letter so you can use them together or cut them apart.) I arranged each letter on the adhesive piece and ran it through my machine. Easy! I then removed the letters (and will save them for a future card) and just used the negative space. After removing the release paper and adding back in the center of the letter “o,” I added the glitter. For dimension, I popped it up over some bright cardstock. I love the playful look of n0t-straight-at-all letters…

HERE is the Classic die set…

You can find all the alphabet dies sets HERE – including lowercase, uppercase and numbers. (I like all lowercase, so I just started with those.)

That background stamp is so unique, too – it is THIS one from Impression Obsession. (Can you tell I just re-discovered these great stamps? Having lots of fun playing with them.)

And since I love these dies so much, I decided to purchase a set to send to a lucky winner. I actually picked someone from the comments left on yesterday’s post. (I love doing surprise giveaways for folks kind enough to leave comments – I plan to do this more!) The winner is  Winnie Dolderer! I will email you. :)

Also… I have a bit of enabling for ya. Just some fun products to check out…

  • Remember when I posted about Kelly Purkey’s awesome stamps HERE? You can now get them at Simon Says Stamp HERE. Yay!
  • Check out THIS great stamp set. So good for encouraging kids.
  • Totally love THIS. Have it to hang outside the kids bathroom.

See you soon.

Alphabet Dies

I was thrilled to see the newest dies from Memory Box in stores. Why? Because they included three great alphabet dies set – the Typewriter, Classic and Parker. I immediately had to put these awesome sets to use.

Here is the first card I did. It shows the Typewriter set in action. (I gave this to Kay before she left on our church mission trip.)

Aren’t those letters just perfect? I LOVE the idea of dies for letters instead of stickers. You never run out of a letter and you can create them in an color you want.

For some extra fun, I covered my die cut letters with glitter. But not just any glitter – I used me favorite: Glitter Ritz Stardust. This color looks like a vintage silver glitter… not too shiny… with a bit of an aged feel to it. And since it is microfine, I just burnish it onto the double-sided tape. This results in some subtle shine…

Covering the die cut letters in glitter is simple. I first stuck some of my favorite double-sided tape onto white cardstock. I then die cut the letters and added the glitter. Easy… with fun results.

HERE is that vintage-silver glitter I like so much…

I also used THIS great herringbone stamp that I shared earlier this week.

And of course the alphabet die set HERE

By the way, there are uppercase version of these dies… and numbers, too!

I will be back soon with cards using the other die sets. See you then.

Happiness is new stamps.

And did you hear that the fabulous Kelly Purkey has created her own stamps? They are such fun. I decided to put one into action on this card…

That greeting is incredible and looks great white heat embossed. Great for cards and scrapbook pages. I made this card for my husband – a little Studio Calico wood veneer person for each member of our family. This summer has been crazy, so I wanted to give him a little remember of how happy it makes me. (But I am taking note that there isn’t enough room on this card for another person – ha!)

So you can see more of Kelly’s stamps HERE.

And those wood veneer people… aren’t they fun? I colored them slightly darker with a marker – it helps to pick of the wood grain texture.

I LOVE the tiny herringbone and chevron background stamps on this from Impression Obsession. They are big and square so you can stamp either horizontal or vertical on a card. Brilliant.

I love new stamps.

Speaking of new stamps… have you seen this new Autumn Groves stamp set from Paper Smooches? Adorable! You can see more HERE. Yes, I love new stamps. :) Just wanted to share! Oh, and it looks like you can have a chance to win it HERE.

New Hero Arts + Discount Code + Giveaway!

I am thrilled with the newest Hero Arts release – it is the best holiday release in years! Lots of good ones… many of which can be used for non-holiday cards, too. You can find them HERE.

And the best part? I have a discount code for you, thanks to Heidi at Simon Says Stamp! The code HOLHERO gives you 10% off ALL Hero Arts products (new and old) between now and August 20. Yay!

I thought I would do a quick card with some of the new goodies. However, I needed a non-holiday card for a friend. So I picked a couple Christmas stamps that worked for any time…

More on those stamps in a bit. I also wanted to show you the microbeads I used on the heart. I remember using these yeaaaaars ago in scrapbooking. But now they come in a great dispenser and in candy-like colors. So much fun! A great non-bulky texture. (They are from Martha Stewart – you can find them HERE.) I just put my favorite double-sided tape on pink cardstock, die cut it and pressed the beads onto it. They stay put well, but you can put a thin coat of Glossy Accents over it if you want…

Loving this color combo – it is what I used in Lila’s room. (Sorry – random sidenote.) That grey ink on the background makes my heart pitter patter – it is Hero Arts Wet Cement.

HERE is the awesomely awesome background stamp…

And that greeting is from THIS holiday set. I just didn’t ink the “christmas” part…

Want to see some other favorites from this release? Check out THIS chevron snowflake background. Delicious…

THIS background is such fun. So many possibilities…

And one last one for now. For all you fellow Christians, you may like THIS one…

Oh, and THIS is what that set of microbeads looks like. Great colors…

Again, you can see the new stamps HERE. Remember – use the discount code of HOLHERO for 10% off ALL Hero Arts products (new and old) between now and August 20 at Simon Says Stamp.

Card Drive for Maddy + Giveaway!

Just wanted to give you a heads up about a great card drive many of my friends are holding. There are some great prizes… all for making cards to make a little girl smile. Here’s the info:

Many of you may have seen the card drive for a sweet girl named Maddy at Simon Says Stamp. You can read more about it here. Maddy is a 13 year old battling leukemia and she will be receiving a stem cell transplant from her 15 year old sister Melanie. It breaks my heart to see a family go through this.

Several months ago, my friend Jana lost most of the dies that she owned. So she set about replacing the ones she liked most. Well lo and behold they were found! So now she has an abundance of extra dies. She could not think of a better way to use them than as prizes to encourage sending even more cards to Maddy and Melanie, something that is so very important to our friend Heidi (Simon Says Stamp owner). So we are starting a new drive (an extension of the one):

Cards of encouragement and love for these girls would do so much to lift their spirits. Every person who sends at least one card will be entered in the drawing for the die giveaway. Please send cards to the following address by September 14th.  For more information, go HERE.

Please be sure to check it out – there are lots of amazing prizes. Amazing! And this is a great way to make a girl smile – one who needs it.

And I have another chance for you to win a prize! Just post about this card drive on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, etc. and share a link here in the comments. I will pick one lucky winner of this Hero Arts Lattice Background Stamp:

Thanks for helping to spread the word about this card drive. See you soon!

That Border Die…

Quick post today. A lot of people asked what border die I used on this card…

Sorry I didn’t link it! It is THIS little guy from My Favorite Things. The perfect border die – and it does the perforated line, too…

That’s all – just wanted to give you the link. See you soon!
