Introducing Inspiration Showcase + Giveaways!

I am very excited to announce my newest class, Inspiration Showcase. This is based on a class I taught in a few stores, only beefed up quite a bit. Here is the story…

In this class, you will follow the creation of a 12×12 canvas utilizing over 40 fabulous techniques including tried-and-true favorites as well as new tips and techniques. This technique-heavy class will explore the many forms of resist, creative uses of distress inks, die cut and embossing techniques along with fabulous finishing touches and using your stamps with more than just the usual suspects of ink and paper.  Through daily videos, you will learn creative ways to make your supplies go farther, such as creating your own embellishments and making the most of your inks, stamps and papers. There will also be 15+ additional card ideas using techniques shown.

This class, which runs from September 12 – 23 and costs only $19, includes:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

And I am giving away 3 spots in the class! Just leave a comment here by Thursday night for your chance to win a spot in Inspiration Showcase. (If you already have purchased a spot and end up being a lucky winner, we will reimburse your money.)

Good luck. Hope to see you in class.

Holiday Cards… already…

Just a quick post tonight. I am exhausted. Sore from my mean trainer (who may read this – hi Nigel! – was just kidding), tired from roller coaster days and tired of fighting allergies. But it is the weekend and that simply rocks. :)

Thought I would share a few holiday cards that are up over on Hero Arts. First up, a bright one…

And another… a little less bright…

By the way, I love THIS background. I have visions of fun techniques swimming in my head…

Check HERE for details on the first card and HERE for details on the second.

That’s all. Have a good rest-of-weekend.

Card Supplies:

New Basic Grey Giveaway

I am so excited that the newest BasicGrey releases are out. The stamps for these lines simply rock. Big time.

Here is a (0h-s0-very-bright) card I made for the upcoming Mall of America Archivers Scrapfest event. (Anyone going to be there?) BasicGrey is teaming up with Hero Arts at the event. We will be making several variations of this card many times over…

Isn’t that stamp awesome? Adore the butterfly, too. (You can find it HERE.)

And then there is the fabulous 6×6 paper pad for the Indie Bloom line… (You can find it HERE.)

There is also a new Nordic Holiday line. Look at this cute stamp set… (You can find it HERE.)

And the 6×6 paper pad for this line, too… (You can find it HERE.)

So you can find all the new Indie Bloom and Nordic Holiday lines at 2Peas HERE and Simon Says Stamp has them HERE and Ellen Hutson HERE.

And since the folks at BasicGrey are so very generous, I ended up with extra 12×12 paper packs of the Indie Bloom and Nordic Holiday lines! So I am giving them away. Just leave a comment here by Sunday night for your chance to win.

By the way, the winner of the new adhesive is Van. Emailed ya!

See you soon.

Resist Layout

I am in full recovery mode right now… trying to recover from the whirlwind of Stampaway! I love that this show is in my neck of the woods and that I get to see many of the same stampers year after year. My Shari was in town staying with us so we could teach together. I miss her dearly, as does my family. Colin asked tonight if she could move in. :)

So, I thought I would pop in quickly to share a layout I did for Nichol Magouirk’s 2Peas Scrapbook Stamping Class. She is the master of stamping + scrapbooking… something that I think can be challenging. But her pages? Perfection.

Nichol asked me to be a guest for her class for this month – focusing on the resist technique. I decided to white heat emboss flourishes on watercolor paper and then paint them with Distress Stains – a fun form of resist…

Here is a closer look…

Thanks for stopping by. Oh, and the winner of the Kerri Bradford goodies is Mandy B. I emailed you.

New Adhesive + Giveaway!

While at CHA, a friend of mine named Kim Conlin came running over to me saying she found an adhesive I would love. But considering how adhesive-picky I am, I didn’t believe her.

I was wrong. After playing with this adhesive, I was sold and am now considering it a favorite. (You can see a video about my other favorite adhesives HERE. I still do love all of these adhesives – it is good to have a few faves within reach.)

This adhesive is unique in a few ways – in ways that make me really like it.

First, it holds in your hand so nicely. I hold it like a pen, so it is so very easy to control and place where you want it…

Refilling it is easy. Pops right in.

The tip applies the adhesive nicely in a nice almost-like-dots honeycomb pattern that is strong yet can be rubbed away. A must for me.

And here is the best part: There are three different widths to the adhesive that comes out. LOVE this…

So if you get the blue one, it puts out a pretty wide strip of adhesive – much like others on the market. If you get the pink one, it is a medium strip. And that green one? It is my favorite. It puts down a thin strip – great for all the little pieces and strips I am always using on my cards and pages. Love. It.

You can get these adhesives HERE. The prices are great and ends up being comparable to the other adhesives I like. So here are the types:

A big thanks to Simon Says Stamps for being willing to order these new babies when I showed them to them at CHA. And since she is so kind, she sent me a set to giveaway…

So leave a comment here by Sunday night for your chance to win one of each of these adhesives and one of each of the refills!

Good luck.

Great giveaway!

Hey there, stampers.

My favorite thing about my job and this industry is the people. (I think I have said that a few times here before, huh? :) ) Well, a couple years back I met the fabulous Kerri Bradford. This girl oozes talent, fun and total class. Adore her… and her work.

And for a year now, she has been selling her digital printable and die cut designs. To celebrate her year anniversary, she has a new website, some great deals, fab giveaways and featured guests. I am honored to be her guest today. :)

I decided to use a few of her designs to die cut some shapes for simple cards using my Silhouette machine. I wanted simple, happy and bold – perfect to send to the girls when they aren’t here. For this first one, I die cut a big ol’ greeting and put it over an embossed-and-distress-stained-and-perfect-pearl-misted-watercolor background.

Bold colors and lots of shine…

And, I couldn’t let the negative space go to waste! So I did another…

Yikes, it is a bit loud, huh?

Oh… and here is a great tip when using a Silhouette: When you go to cut a shape, fill the page with extra shapes and cut them all from white. Then you will have pieces for future projects and you can ink them any color you want. For the “hello” on this next one, I cut in white and colored it with my Copics. Simple and quick…

And the blue piece on there was created with faux letterpress. (Anyone in Summer Card Camp? This is the technique I taught in Week 4.)

Another one. LOVE LOVE LOVE Kerri’s border “enjoy” shape. So cool. I stretched it across a transparency window. (Which I showed in Week 1 of Summer Card Camp.)

So, Kerri has some great sales going on this week:

And, since Kerri is so kind, she is letting me give away $50 in her designs! Just leave a comment here by Friday night for your chance to win.

Be sure to go check out her new site HERE. Enjoy!

(Oh, and the winner of the necklace gift certificate is Debbie Kissel.)
