I’m a happy girl…

Happy Friday.

I am feeling extra blessed this morning. Why? Because of this…

Yep, I am a new Contributing Editor for Paper Crafts magazine – a new Go To Gal.

In the fall, I retired from my role with Creating Keepsakes magazine. Many have asked why and it was really quite simple: I was tired and struggling with coming up with tags and scrapbook pages. I felt I wasn’t giving the CK team and the readers my best and that made me sad.

To be honest – my heart is in cardmaking and stamping.

But after retiring from CK, I was even more sad. I missed interacting with the CK team (they are gems) and the fun of magazine work. So I started to get involved with Paper Crafts magazine. This is the perfect fit for me: cardmaking + a sweet editoral team (they are as amazing as the CK girls) + a fresh start. Heaven.

The best part of it all? I am still working with Hero Arts (nothing changes there – not a chance!) and all my other ventures. This is just icing on the cake. :)

Feeling blessed today. Hoping the same for you all.

Winners, Photos, Updates and More…

Hello!

I am home from my long weekend at The Collins Group rep show. This is a show Hero Arts goes to every year where we get to teach store owners. And I love it. Seeing the same sweet faces year after year… chatting with my favorite stores (including Absolutely Everything, Buffalo Stamps, Angela’s Happy Stampers, Wiggles and Giggles and many more)… laughing with fellow industry folks… I love it all. Shari, Todd (Hero VP) and I had so many really good laughs. REALLY heart-warming good laughs and I am so thankful for them.

Our make and take…

Todd can imitate Charlie Sheen so well. He kept saying Shari and I were his goddesses. Winning…

Hero Arts co-taught an all day class with Sizzix at this show. And it was such a great collaboration! Many said it was the best class ever… teaming up die cutting, stamping and inking. I have been dreaming of making a cluster of hoops to hang on a wall (kinda like THIS) and this was the perfect class to try it. Each student made five hoops and here is a peek at two of them…

Winners? I have winners. I emailed you all…

I will be back soon with a card share. Off to play with the little guy – he is on spring break this week. Take care!

Welcome to the Lily Pad Blog Hop + Giveaway

Welcome! Today I have a blog hop AND a giveaway. Keep reading…

I am excited to be part of the Lily Pad Blog Hop. This hop is to celebrate the launch of Lily Pad Cards – a new challenge blog that will feature fun things like videos, articles, interviews, challenges, prizes and more. And the best part? I know the sweet folks who started it and they are SUCH good people. Gotta love that.

So, this hop will feature seven blogs per day until Friday, April 1, which marks the grand opening of Lily Pad Cards.

Although Lily Pad doesn’t officially start until Friday, you’ll be able to see a new sneak peek every day until then. And! There will be three prize packages with a total retail value of over $600 – including a $100 gift certificate to a very popular online store! Go HERE for details.

The theme for this blog hop is “Welcome” since we are welcoming you all to join in the Lily Pad Cards fun.

And here’s my welcome card…

I used lots of different stamp brands here… Hero Arts, Papertrey Ink and Penny Black. (Full supplies are listed in the images at the end of this post.)

The sign is hand drawn. And the dots in the background? I just stamped them and then covered each dot with Glossy Accents for shine…

Be sure to continue on this fun hop. The next stop is Ayana Posadas’s fabulous blog. (If along the hop you hit a bad link, you can always go to Lily Pad Cards and click on the next link in the hop. Please report any bad links to webmaster@inlinkz.com.)

What would a hop be without a giveaway? :) Just leave a comment here by Sunday at 11:59pmEST and I will pick a lucky winner of TWO 6×6 Basic Grey paper pads – Hello Luscious (which I used on the card above) and Life of the Party

Good luck and have fun on the rest of the hop! (Go to Ayana Posadas’s next.) I will be announcing other winners tomorrow.

I am MIA…

Hello!
I am at a rep show teaching with Hero Arts. Busy times! Sorry for no posts, but I will be back soon to share and to announce some winners.
Off to bed. Tired from working… and watching UK beat Ohio State! Yay!!
See you soon. :)

My Favorite Things…

Hello.

You know I love to show you my favorite things here, right?

Well, one of my current favorite things is My Favorite Things. Yes, the company is perfectly named – My Favorite Things – and I am in love with their dies. They do make the most adorable stamps, but I wanted to talk about their fabulous yet inexpensive dies today. They are my new addiction… and they work with any die cut machine.

I used one of their dies to make this super fast, super cute felt flower here…

Just die cut the felt, roll around a paper piercer, flatten and adhere.

HERE is the adorable rolled rose die

Fun, huh?

Here are my other current faves that I have been using a lot lately. (You will be seeing them soon…)

THIS die also embosses (the red lines). Love faux buttons for non-bulky cards.

And I have a pair of cloud punches. But we need things in 3′s, right? 3 different size clouds? Yes! Or flat-bottomed clouds? Of course!

And, speaking of wanting-everything-in-3′s… this comes with three flowers and three leaves. Dreamy.

This one is clever: It makes your paper look like grosgrain ribbon…

My boss at Hero Arts always tells me that I am “heart picky” – I only like certain styles of hearts. And I love these

My Favorite Things also has die and stamp combo packs. This one is fun. I like that I can use the dies with the stamps for a perfect fit, or I can use any sentiment I want…

(And, as always, I wasn’t paid to say I like these products. I just truly do. :) )

I have a great giveaway for you! I emailed with Kim over at My Favorite Things and told her how much I love her dies. And she included this set for me to giveaway. (Turns out she is as sweet as her dies and stamps.) So just leave a comment here by Friday at 11:59pmEST and I will pick a lucky winner of THIS die and stamp combo

Good luck.

Tim Holtz Idea-ology Project + Giveaway

Happy Sunday, stampers.

Heidi over at Simon Says Stamps sent me a box full of goodies to giveaway. (She is a generous gal!) A few of the things are from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology line, so I thought I would share a project I did using them.

I created this frame for Tim to use in the Idea-ology booth at CHA. And I had such fun making it. I used a recycled, inexpensive dimensional frame I got at Hobby Lobby years ago. I punched lots of circles from Tim’s papers and added lots of embellishments from his line. Many of the elements relate to my family. (I have a hard time creating with elements that don’t make sense or that don’t have a purpose. It is the engineer in me. :) )

I used lots of flowers (we plant a TON here in the summer), butterflies (love being outside), time elements (Ken & I danced to “Time In a Bottle” for our first dance at our wedding) and hearts (in the little bottles). I *adore* Tim’s large frames – isn’t it perfect in the middle? I am buying more. (To find any of these products, just click the photos at the end of this post.)

Love the “5″ and “M” that stand for our family. And the old pen tips that remind me to record our memories. And the crown? I just liked it. ;) The butterflies are cut from THIS paper pack. To make it more personal, I added little word strips I created on my computer.

These are such fun to put together!

By the way, I am loving THESE new black letters from Tim. You will be seeing me use them lots.

And how would you like a chance to win some of these Tim Holtz goodies? Just leave a comment here by Wednesday at 11:59pmEST and I will pick a lucky winner of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Word Keys, Game Pieces and Hanger Clips. And I will also include a Tim Holtz Alterations Styled Labels Die! Love that die.

See you soon.
