Happy New Year to you…

I was going to do a fun 2010 recap or "best of" or something. But the idea somewhat overwhelmed me.:)

So, instead, I am just popping in to wish you all a Happy New Year.

I also wanted to thank you for stopping by my little blog and leaving such kind comments. I adore you fellow stampers and love this hobby that we share.

I hope that all your prayers are answered in 2011. Enjoy!

I love rain. Real rain that falls while I am inside, cozy with my family. The rain that feeds my flowers.

However, rain that falls in the lives of my family and friends – not so much. The kind of rain that comes with sadness, loss, struggles, etc.

And when someone has that kind of rain, sometimes the best umbrella comes in the form of a card. It is truly is amazing how uplifting a thoughtful card from a loved one can be.

And this card? I hope this umbrella blocks the rain away from one of my friends who has experienced a sad loss. I hope, I hope, I hope.

I like to make these types of cards a bit brighter, in hopes of brightening their day. I even made the little girl smile with a pen, and brightened her eyes with Black Enamel Accents.

The raindrops are Glossy Accents – perfect with the Echo Park cloud paper. (A new fave of mine.)

The girl stamp and die (that comes with a cute stamp set – look HERE) are from the sweet folks at My Favorite Things. I have a big crush on this die cut. Lovely.

I (unfortunately) bet that all of us have a loved one who could use an umbrella in the rain. Why not send them a card?

Hugs to you all.

More NEW stamps are in…

The rest of the new stamps are in from Hero Arts. I shared some of my favorites from the pre-release last week, and here are a few more I love that just hit the stores today.

Oh, and the In The Classroom DVDs will be out soon. These DVDs contain 8 videos and 18 card ideas – all videos I shot in my studio.

THIS background is a fun spin on a definition background…

THIS is the stamp many have been waiting for. I LOVE the soft, thin lines of it. It is fabuolus for stamping over stamped images to give the look of texture.

Here is a stamped image I colored with Copics and then stamped over with this stamp and some Soft Lilac Shadow Ink…

THIS next one is fun to color – covers the whole card. Used it this weekend…

Sympathy cards are tough. THIS set has some great messages. Love the 'thoughts and prayers' one…

You can find all of the new goodies HERE.

See you tomorrow… off to watch TV. Night!

Merry Christmas from my family to yours…

Just wanted to pop in to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Here is the front of our holiday cards (can't see the soft pool stamped snowflakes on the bottom…)

I made 150 of these bad boys. While sick with a terrible stomach bug. And with a kid who was sick with the same. And a husband out of town. But our family takes sending Christmas cards seriously, so I got them done. Colin did all the gluing. Ken usually does all the writing and such, but he escaped his duties due to his trip. :)

I truly hope your family time is amazing and that God gifts you with wonderful smiles and laughs. This time of year is even more special to my family because in addition to the birth of Jesus, we get to celebrate the births of two other wonderful folks.

December 24th is the birthday of my incredible mom…

Have a wonderful holiday, my sweet blog friends. See you soon.

Spice up those packages… Video!

I have a fun video for you all today from the Hero Arts Blog. It shows how to create unique “bows” for your holiday packages. This is what I was going to do for teacher gifts – give a set of these in different styles along with wrapping paper. Never got to do it – boo – but I will next year.

Love that Rock Candy Stickles on the leaves and star…

The video above shows how to create these rosettes from scratch. However, I highlllllllly recommend instead getting the Tim Holtz Rosette die cut. It cuts strips perfectly with scalloped edges and perforations for folding. I LOVE this die. It is out of stock everywhere, but will be back soon.

Here is a piece I created using the die. It is from a class – I cut 100 of these in no time flat…

Debut Class 8
I hope everyone is having some time off with family. We are so happy to have the three kiddos together and laughing. So much giggling going on here. Here is a shot from the pool today…

Colin and Audrey went flying in the 1948 Luscombe 8F his Granddad (Ken’s dad) built. They love it. Kay? Too wimpy to go – ha. That’s Audrey in there…

OK… off to do a puzzle. We are a nerd family. :) Night!

Gift cards…

I seemed to give a lot more gift cards as gifts this year.

Usually I don’t like to give them as they seem not-as-thoughtful as other gifts. But they really are the perfect gift, especially for teenagers. Shopping with “free money?” Delightful.

So I did several cards that hold gift cards. This one was from a class…

It’s an easel card. Started with a 8.5×11″ piece, cut it in half to 4.25″11 and folded at 5.5″ and 8.25″…

… and added a pocket to the bottom inside for a gift card to hide…

The snowflakes on the front are sparkly and lovely in real life. Colored Memento Marker directly on the rubber of the snowflakes, spritzed them with some pearlized water and stamped. Love.

Some lovely links for ya…

  • So so VERY pretty.
  • Lovin’ THESE cards. Looks like a great class!
  • You must check THESE out. Shows all the Hero Arts notecards matched up with the Hero Arts inks – a great reference. And, gorgeous cards!
  • THIS made me melt.
  • More great free printable tags HERE.
  • Was looking for a new decal for my laptop. THIS one cracks me up, but I of course didn’t order it. :) I instead got THIS one for me and THIS one for Kay.

Off to hang out with the family. Night.
