Day 2 of HA/PTI Stamp Challenge

Before getting started, just wanted to announce that the winner of the stamps from the other day is Sue W. I emailed ya.

So, now to the challenge. It is Day 2 of my Hero Arts and Papertrey Ink Challenge with Maile Belles. That girl has more talent in her little toe than most people have entirely! Today we will be using the Hero Arts Deocrated Tree and the Papertrey Ink Christmas Signature

I personally challenged myself to make a quick card. This is tough for me sometimes. But this is what I came up with and it looks TONS better in real life. So just close your eyes and pretend it is yummy – ha. I added color to the kraft card by HEAVILY coloring with colored pencils and also adding White Enamel Accents and Glossy Accents. Love doing this…

Add Vintage Photo to the edges. It really looks wonky in these photos. Sorry…

By the way, I get a lot of questions about colored pencils. This is one department I am very passionate about. There is one brand that really sticks out: Prismacolor. They go on so smooth and really work well on many papers, including kraft. Definitely worth the investment – it is something you will use for years. (I have!)

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to head over to Maile‘s next for what is sure to be a stunning card.

New Challenge! Day 1 of HA/PTI Stamp Challenge with Maile Belles

Welcome to yet another same stamp challenge. This time I asked Maile Belles. I don’t know Maile well, but have admired her work for some time now. She has a simple and classy look that is so stunning – simple and classy is hard to achieve! But she does it every time. So, I asked her if she wanted to do a fun challenge with me. And, to top it off, she is as sweet as can be.

Since Maile is on the Papertrey Ink design team, we are going to do a double-same-stamp-challenge – one being Hero Arts and one being Papertrey Ink. I love combining my favorite stamp companies like this.

So, Day 1 of our HA/PTI Stamp Challenge combines the Hero Arts Village background with the Papertrey Ink Boards and Beams set

  Maile 1
And here is my take on these two stamps. I think I was nervous coming up with something that will even come close to comparing to Maile’s! But I tried. I used white ink on the craft background for a subtle look. The house is colored with Copics and I used Glossy Accents to make the windows shine. The little dots on the tree were made with White Enamel and then colored with pink Copics once they dried. Oh, and I created the little shrub by cutting some from the tree. Did the greeting on the computer – wanted it to be perfect for a friend who just visited…

Oh, and for the record – I LOVE the name Maile. If I ever have a girl, that is at the top of the list. :)

Now go and visit Maile HERE. I am sure your socks will be knocked off.

Day 7 – last day of the challenge…

Welcome to the last day of my Inspired Stamp Challenge with Jill Foster. So sad it is ending – it has been such fun!

For this last day, we will be using the Hero Arts Artists Butterfly and THIS card for inspiration…

Put on your sunglasses…

092710 JF 7 JenMcGuireSupplies: Hero Arts stamps (butterfly and greeting); Doodlebug paper; Tim Holtz Scallop Die; buttons, inked with Chipped Sapphire and Wild Honey Distress Ink; Signo White pen; Copics.

Used my Copics to color the butterfly and then channeled my friend, Kathy, to go bold on color and add white highlights. Love going bold.

It is so fun to use Tim Holtz border dies on the sides of cards. So easy. Just lay the edge up again the edge of the card and it cuts all the way. And, yes, you can use your Cuttlebug. THIS one is great…

And, THESE new tone-on-tone mini-print papers from Doodlebug. They are delicious. Every color. One side is stripe, one is little flowers. Or one side is grid and the other is dot. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Smooth and perfect for stamping and inking. Yum…

Be sure to head to Jill's blog to see her take on this challenge. And a big thanks to Jill for sharing this week with me. You amaze me, girl!

Day 6 of Inspired Stamp Challenge Week

Had a lovely time at a new-to-us scrapbook retreat, Cropadoodledo. The manager is the nicest thing in the world and I enjoyed every minute with my friends. Jana, Sandi and Kathy – love you all so very much. Even more than I love stamping. ;)

Now it is time for Day 6 of my Stamp Inspired Challenge with sweetie Jill. Be sure to check out her blog next HERE.

Today's challenge was to use the fabulous Hero Arts Dogwood stamp and Jill's gorgeous card HERE

And here is what I came up with. I lined up lots of Tim Holtz tape on the bottom and sprayed with Glimmer Mist chalkboard spray…

Day 5 of Inspired Stamp Challenge Week

It’s Day 5 of my Inspired Stamp Challenge with the wonderful Jill Foster

Please forgive my brief post. I am at a stamp retreat in the middle of nowhere on a farm. It is heavenly heavenly heavenly, but the internet connection is slow. ☺

Today we will be using the Three Sunflowers Hero Arts stamp along with THIS inspiration card by Jill.

Here is my take. I white heat embossed the flower on watercolor paper and then painted on lots of Twinkling H2Os. I also stamped over it with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and the Hero Arts Friends Defintion stamp. Added some strips and such and I was good to go…
