How-To Video: Coloring & Airbrushing (…and links)

Hey, there, stampers.

Since I shared all that Copic Marker info on yesterday's post, I thought I would follow it up with a video.  (However, I promise I won't be only doing Copic stuff all the time now… just wanted get this out there to answer so many questions.)  Even if you aren't interested in the markers, this video has some other ideas, such as faux grass, etc.  (And, no, I don't work for Copic.  Just like them. :)

Supplies: Copic Markers (YG23, YG17, R20, R32, R35, R29, YR68; B02); Copic Marker Airbrush Air Compressor System; Silhouette Clouds from Hero Arts; Cuttlebug, Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors; Hero Arts flower, dot background and greeting; Neenah white cardstock; Hero Arts notecard; Memento Black Ink; Corner Chomper

In the video, I show THESE fun scissors from Martha Stewart.  I wasn't sure if I would like them, but they are wonderful.  Saves TONS of time cutting fringe or grass.  I am using them a lot…

I also show in this video another of my must-have tools – the Tim Holtz craft knife HERE.  This baby is delightful.  I tend to shove things around my desk a lot and the fact that this knife retracts rocks.  And, it has easy replacement blades, which I haven't even used yet.

And, some links and random bits for you…

  • Fabulous ribbon flower technique video HERE.  Just love it and so easy to make.  May add some to some pillows.
  • Pretty cards for a good cause HERE by Vanessa.
  • Can't wait to see Kelly Marie's new stamp line coming out HERE.  I love any clear stamps made in the US as they stamp sooooo nicely.
  • Adorable card from Vicki HERE.  And a great giveaway.  Whenever I am blue, I think of Vicki – the funniest girl I know – and things turn around quickly.  I like people like that.
  • The Bachelor?  Blech. Clearly so scripted, but I will always watch.  Makes me laugh.  Makes me feel better that I am low-maintenance and have a normal life. :)   No likey Vienna, but wouldn't it be cool if they stayed together to prove everyone wrong?  Who knows.
  • Next, Dancing With the Stars? Kate?  Really.  Double blech.
  • Thankfully there aren't more grumpy Simon Cowells in this world – even if he is right most of the time.

Ok.  Off to snuggle with Roxie.  Night night. :)

I’m not too sure about the Dancing with the Stars choices either. Pam and Kate? What were they thinking?

Hadn’t seen the airbrush used before. Now I’m thinking I need it, too. Don’t tell my husband! ;)

Totally agree with the Double Blech for Kate being on DWTS. I’m a huge fan of that show but this makes me not want to watch it. Of course I will though. I just hope she gets booted off early.

Wonderful video Jennifer, and the card is so cute!! Love all the tips – THOSE MS SCISSORS, I NEED THEM – and the dot of glossy accents under the button for mailing is genius. Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you for another fabulous video! I hope someday to have my own Copic Compressor System…so dreamy!

I also can’t wait to see the Lawn Fawn stamps. Kelly Marie is my cousin’s wife and I still have yet to meet her in person!!

Can I say I love your videos, always so helpful and so informative with all the little hints. Could you tell me which airbrush set you use. I see there is three different packages available and I never know which one to purchase. I know I don’t want the generator but not sure about the rest. Would love your help.
    Thanks sweetie!

I’ve been using the Copics for a few years…LOVE THEM! I am now considering the air brush system. There are a few types out there. Which one do you think is “best”?

Super video! Even though I haven’t gotten on the copic bandwagon (out of my budget), great ideas and tips. And I love that you show pulling off the grass too -instead of editing it out to make it seem perfect. I prefer “real” – it’s much more useful and helps me not be so hard on myself when I do stuff like that.

Hi Jennifer, I loved this video and the card is gorgeous. Just what I need to invest in, another tool. Actually four–the air compressor, the MS scissors, the knife and the little scissors. Oh boy.

Loved the video… can you tell me/us which model air compressor you are using? the Sparmax 100 or the 101. I use a big compressor that’s in my garage, but never adjust the gauges. I’ve also seen those scissors elsewhere. I appreciate you always stating the color of Copics used in your projects. TIA

Love your creativeness, your spirt, your down to earth attitude to teach us all so much and being a “POSITIVE” in all our daily lives as well! Love how you “share” and teach us to do such beautiful things! THANK YOU!

Please … where and what do you use for the string for the “tiny bows” you make so well?

Thanks Jennifer and keep up the great work; it is enjoyed by so many!!!

Loved your video. I think it’s time that I get the Copic airbrush system. I like the effect it gives. Visited the blogs you suggested and am trying to make one of the flowers. Regarding The Bachelor-yucky! Personally I hope the relationship lasts, but I doubt it. She’s loving all the fame, too. Dancing With the Stars was a surprise, too. I can’t believe they chose Kate and Pamela. UGH! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, too. My two Shelties are laying on my feet!

I wish Copics were in my budget right now, but alas they are not. I have to stick with colored pencils and Gamsol (which I love the look of anyway).
Lovely card and while the colors wouldn’t be a vibrant with colored pencils, I can see how I could do something like this with pencils and Distress Ink for the sky.
    The airbrush thingy is Fantastic.
DWTS – Kate G. I don’t think she’ll last long. But I am excited to see Chad -he should be amusing. Can’t wait for it to start.
