Card Drive

Well, we are almost to 1,000 cards for Kate and her family.

And we still have a couple weeks left in the drive.  And prizes still coming in.

So, Jana, Kristina and I have been wondering if we should open the drive up to another child/family in need of some encouragement.  People still could send cards for Kate… and/or this additional person.  We are so thrilled with the number of cards we are getting, so we thought we could spread the love.

If you know of someone who needs this encouragement, please email me privately.  If they have a website with updates, that would be good to know, too, as everyone appreciates reading Kate's updates.

ETA: I think we found a child to help.  More soon!

By the way, today is a tough day for Kate.  Please pray, if you are the praying kind.  (Read HERE.)

Thanks, everyone.  You all rock.  Truly.

Faith card…

Hey there!  Home from Oklahoma.  On this trip, I learned that napping isn't going to be a good hobby for me.  I truly gave it my best.  I took 3-hour naps here and there.  I rested lots.  I slept well at night.  But still tired.  Always tired.  So, I am going to have to move on and explore a different hobby.  Maybe jewelry-making.  Just no napping.

Thought I would share a card I made for Kate's parents using one of Ali's digital kits.  I have a hard time finding great Christian greetings – and I LOVE hers.  And, since she is one of our generous donors for the Cards for Kate prizes, I thought I would share it here…

I love new stamps…

New stamps make me smile.  Just love getting them in the mail.  Yum.

Did you see the peeks of the new Hero Arts stamps this week?  This butterfly is my favorite of the new stamps.  Love it…

Hero prize

I have more to work on for the card drive, so I am signing off quickly tonight.  See you tomorrow!

A great prize…

I was checking out our great prizes for the Cards for Kate drive.  Lots of great stuff, and I will be adding more tonight.  Xyron donated a new Creatopia, so I wanted to find out a bit about it.  And – oh my – I sure will be buying one of these.  Here is a bit of info…

The Xyron Creatopia machine will apply adhesive and laminate to items up to 12 inches wide and .5 inches thick. It will also allow you to emboss and cut paper and other thin materials.

Modular components allow this machine to expand on Xyron’s core adhesive tools by adding embossing and manual cutting in one machine.  Embossing will be in the form of 12 inch wide pattern rollers and 3 inch wide patterns for borders. Creatopia will cut strips of paper and finish edges using a variety of interchangeable blade cartridges, Xyron will also introduce the first 6.5 inch wide universal die press for use with the industry’s leading brands of dies. Creatopia will also be the first in the Xyron line to have a Fabric Adhesive cartridge.

Looks like a fun tool I must have. :)

Just a quick share and then I am back to catching up on email.  Just using some new Hero holiday goodies.  Love layering torn vellum for snow.  And using the Copic Glitter Markers for fabulous shine…

Watching Grey's.  But started halfway through.  So I am totally clueless on what is happening.  Ha.

Happy Wednesday

Greetings from Ponca City, Oklahoma!  I am here with the family for several days to visit Ken's parents.  Hope to get caught up on computer work.  Lord knows I need to!

No worries – my parents will be at my house collecting the Cards for Kate.  They are coming in so fast now – amazing.

Thought I would share a few random things.  You know me – I can be very random. :)

First, I noticed that Stamp Your Art Out in Cincinnati is having the CUTEST kids class.  I thought I would share the info here in case anyone is interested.  It is the Crafty Kids Camp on Saturday, October 3 from 2:30-4:30pm.  Should be fun.  For kids 8 and up and it is only $15 with all supplies provided.  (I am not teaching it.  Call 513-793-4558 if you are interested.)  Check out this cute project they will make… click to see it bigger.

Thought I would share some fun things from 2Peas this mid-month…

  • Love THIS page from Shannon.  Her little guy looks so much like Colin here… and I love the owl she used.
  • Look at THESE cute Halloween bags.  Love them!
  • I have on word for THIS page by Nichol: Wowsers.
  • Oh my word, THIS makes me want a baby girl.  (In 5 years.)
  • Another stunning one HERE.  Wow.

I also did a few things for 2Peas this mid-month.  First, here is a warm card I did with alcohol inks.  I first stamped that background with embossing ink and heat embossed white on glossy white paper.  I then applied lots of alcohol ink.  After drying, I lightly sanded to reveal the background even more.  For more info on the project, click HERE.

Next up is a package of candy I made for Colin.  Just something fun to do – I gave this to him on his first day of school.  Click HERE for more information…

Here is a paper pumpkin I did – with Colin's help.  Easy and fun.  Click HERE to learn more.

As for TV… I watch The Good Wife last night.  I liked it.  The cast is great – may want to check it out.

Off to sleep.  I love sleep and miss it dearly.  In fact, I have been talking about taking up a new hobby.  (Since my hobby is my job, really.)  I told Ken I think napping would be a great hobby.  Inexpensive, right?  I started my new hobby today with a 2 hour nap this afternoon. :)

Catching up a bit…

Hello!  Time to play catch up.  Got home today from Scrapfest today.  That show is a whirlwind!  Was wonderful meeting so many new people.  Wish I could have spent more time with old friends.  Next time.  Here is a peek at the projects I did in my class.  All the cards held a gift – money, gift card, tea or candy…

I am home for a few days and then head to my in-laws for a bit.  I will be catching up on email while I am there.  If you had emailed me and I haven't gotten back to you, please send it again. :)

Let's see…

First, Ken and I spent some time this evening going through MANY packages of Cards for Kate.  WOW.  Japan.  Argentina.  Ireland.  Indonesia.  These cards are coming from everywhere.  I can imagine the delight for Kate when she gets more cards.  God bless you all.  Jana added more names to the list of received cards HERE.  And I will be giving her MANY more names tomorrow to add.  Thanks, everyone!

Next up…

Believe it or not, it is time for some new stamps from Hero Arts.  This time we have lots of Cling stamps – check out this fabulous preview

On to some mindless TV news – feel free to skip. :)

  • Dancing With the Stars.  The cast didn't really interest me – what about you?  But I likey watching Maks and Dmitry dance.  Yum. Yum. YUM.  I often wonder how much double-sided tape those girl dancers have to use on those skimpy outfits.
  • I didn't watch House last season, even though it was one of my favorite shows.  (I do some work at night and watching that show requires you to pay attention.  Ha.)  For those who watch it, do you think I can start up this season without having seen last?
  • Dexter.  Yes, it is twisted.  But the characters in this show are like none I have ever seen.  Simply amazing.  Rockin' preview HERE.  I wish this would have won the Emmy.  If you are considering trying out this show, you MUST start with season 1.  And give it three episodes.  You will be addicted by then. Don't say I didn't warn you…
  • I haven't watched Glee yet, but plan to.  And I am hoping Community is good – love Joel McHale.
  • What else are you all watching?

OK… off to get a class supply list together for some classes next weekend.  Back tomorrow with some sharing.  Night.
